POSITION DESCRIPTION

FLSA/Comps Status: Nonexempt/Hourly Department: Operations Job Title: Diesel and small engine mechanic Date: 9/9/2024 Reports to: President and Shop Manager Location: Grand Junction, CO EPA Factors: (1) Merit (2) Experience General Purpose of Position: heavy and small equipment repair. Supervision Received: daily. Supervision Exercised: none. Tasks Performed by the Position: Repairs, maintains and services gas and diesel engines and power trains used to power machines, such as trucks, generators, and construction machinery, using hand tools, precision measuring instruments and machine tools: Diagnoses trouble, disassembles engines and other components, and examines parts for defects and excessive wear. Reconditions and replaces parts, such as pistons, bearings, gears, valves and bushings, etc. using hand tools, and precision measuring instruments. May weld and cut parts, using arc-welding and flame-cutting equipment. May require some maintenance recordkeeping for inspections, etc. Requires personal ownership of hand tools and a Class A or B Commercial Driver s License.

Position Requirements: 1. Minimum Education and Experience: 3 years experience 2. Minimum Required Skills, Ability, Licensing, Certification, Training, etc.: multi-tasked, flexible, valid Colorado commercial driver s license. 3. Tools, Equipment, or Machines Required to Operate: basic mechanic tools. 4. Testing Requirements: none. 5. Physical Requirements: a. General: walking, sitting, standing, bending, lifting, climbing in and out of equipment. b. Lifting: approximately 50 # often. c. Exposure to Elements: Outside elements i.e. sun, wind, dust, rain, mud, snow, ice, cold, heat, high pressure hoses, solvent, grease, oil, paint, cleaning materials, noise, and exhaust. d. Handling of Dangerous Equipment/Materials: Materials: starting fluid, cures, fuels. e. Other Hazardous Working Conditions: working around machinery being repaired. f. Scheduled Work Hours: 7:00 am 3:30 pm, Monday Friday, 1/2 hour for lunch, two 10- minute breaks unless otherwise specified. Judgment/Decision Making: Supervision: 1.
