Mesa County Crew Manager -District B - Road and Bridge in Grand Junction, Colorado

Description Supervises the day-to-day operations of the company of Transportation, Construction Division/Maintenance Division, conducts performance evaluations of employees, assists employees and fills vacant positions when necessary. Overseeing employees effectively and in a manner that is conducive to good morale and good working relations. Responsible for making sure that all activities have the correct resources and a smooth operation. Assigns and directs work to meet previously prepared schedules. Inspects work performed to insure quality control. Obtains utility locates, schedules traffic control for proposed projects in a timely fashion with company Traffic. When needed performs work involving operating and driving heavy, complex equipment. Performs road and bridge construction, repair, and maintenance activities. Serves as lead worker for less experienced workers. Oversees and/or participates in the operation of a variety of light equipment in order to properly maintain assigned roads, structures, and rights-of-way. Acts in the absence of the Construction Division/Maintenance District Manager.

Employee is subject to Commercial Drivers Drug/Alcohol Testing.

Carries out supervisory responsibility in accordance with County policies, procedures and applicable laws including training in job skills; planning, assigning and directing work; appraising performance; addressing complaints and resolving problems.

Plans, allocates, and monitors time, people, equipment, and other resources for the County to ensure efficient organization and completion of wor

Monitors productivity/work flow and resolves problems to ensure deadlines are met.

Plans, organizes, assigns, reviews, and controls work production and activities, to include procedures, allocation of resources, problem resolution, and training of employees.

Completes required forms and paperwork, and prepares work program and reports work progress periodically.

Identifies and develops potential sources of supplies, materials, equipment, and services that are capable of providing appropriate quality at appropriate prices.

Assists in preparation of the departmental budget by making suggestions as to the equipment required.

Reviews and evaluates construction sites and assigns resources and equipment.

Reads and interprets construction plans and drawings.

Serves as lead worker on projects as necessary.

Prepares reports and daily logs.

Trains and assists less experienced workers in methods and procedures of performing work.

Drives and operates complex construction and maintenance equipment and other complex heavy equipment.

Performs construction, maintenance or repair activities on roads and bridges.

Provides traffic control at road construction sites by directing traffic and assisting other equipment operators in maneuvering equipment.

Oversees loading and hauling of requested commodities (e.g., food and supplies) to designated County facilities or work sites.

Employee is subject to Emergency call out with 60 minute response time to emergency conditions of county roads.

Oral and written communications must be clear and effective.

Performs other related duties as assigned.

Minimum Requirements Education and Experience:

High school diploma or equivalent and four (4) years of related work experience

Any combination of education, training and experience which provides the knowledge, skills and abilities required for the job.

Licenses and Certifications:
