Job Description:Under supervision, prepares and cooks food.
Scope
As a Cook, an individual must be able to perform each essential duty satisfactorily. - Regular attendance to perform work on site during regularly scheduled business hours or scheduled shifts is required.
- Hazardous Analysis of Critical Control Point (HACCP) training to be obtained after hire.
- ability to follow a recipe and scale.
- Basic knowledge of food allergies and dietary restrictions
- Reviews menus daily to determine quantities of food and supplies needed.
- Prepares food for cafeteria, patient food service and catering using creativity, quality, consistency, and promptness.
- Follow and comply with recipe standards.
- Monitors and replenishes food as needed for cafeteria, catering, or patient trays.
- Ensures food is being handled and stored to Hazardous Analysis of Critical Control Point (HACCP) guidelines.
- Operates various types of kitchen equipment and maintain cleanliness. Records temperatures of refrigerators. Ensures equipment is in good working condition.
- Promotes mission, vision, and values of SCL Health, and abides by service behavior standards.
- Performs other duties as assigned.
Minimum Qualifications
High school diploma or equivalent is preferred.
One (1) year food service experience in a healthcare facility, such as health care food service is preferred Minimum 6 months experience in food preparation, preferably in a healthcare setting is preferred.
Physical Requirements:Interact with others by effectively communicating, both orally and in writing.- and -Operate computers and other office equipment requiring the ability to move fingers and hands.- and -See and read computer monitors and documents.- and -Remain sitting or standing for long periods of time to perform work on a computer, telephone, or other equipment.- and -May require lifting and transporting objects and office supplies, bending, kneeling and reaching.
