Intermountain Health Assistant Vice President of Finance in Grand Junction, Colorado

Job Description:

The Assistant Vice President (AVP) of Finance at St. Mary’s Regional Hospital and Western Colorado Market is responsible for overseeing the financial performance, coordinating, planning, and analysis of the market financial operations. The leader is responsible for directing and coordinating the finance operations of all departments within the market. The incumbent supports the market President and works closely with the regional leadership team, and the enterprise finance team to ensure alignment of financial goals, strategies, and policies.

This is an exempt, full-time position located in Grand Junction, Colorado with a salary range of $180,274 - $216,726 annually and as determined by years of relevant experience . To show our commitment to you and assist with your transition into our organization, we may offer a sign-on and relocation bonus when applicable.

With this position, you are eligible to participate in an annual pay-for-performance opportunity (“AP4P”). This plan enables Intermountain Health to provide leaders with an additional performance compensation opportunity. The AP4P opportunities are calculated as a percentage of your base salary. Awards are paid out based on attainment of selected Intermountain Health Board-approved goals.

As the Assistant Vice President of Finance, you will:

  • Work with hospital and market leadership to develop strategies and recommendations related to hospital operations.

  • Ensure the finance functions within the market comply with Intermountain Health policies and procedures and meet all regulatory requirements regarding financial operations.

  • Develop financial projections that reflect the market's long-term plans and review new strategies, and the financial impact projected for each key strategy.

  • Accountable for overseeing the preparation of the market capital and operating Plans.

  • Partner with enterprise functions in areas such as supply chain, revenue cycle, HIM, and physician contracting as needed.

  • Work with the hospital and market leadership team, enterprise finance, finance director(s) and others to achieve the region's Plan target. Continually pursues ways to improve operating efficiencies.

  • Demonstrate an in-depth understanding of the interrelationship of finance areas within the facility and system-wide finance functions.

  • Prepare or review financial analyses Associated with feasibility studies, new programs, cost analyses, contracts, and other ventures, and makes recommendations to market and regional leadership based on such analyses.

  • Directly supervise, coach, and mentor other directors, managers, professionals and/or staff who are involved in the financial process.

  • Utilize effective leadership skills to remove barriers to productivity and effectiveness.

Minimum Requirements

  • Bachelor’s Degree in finance, business/healthcare administration or related field from an accredited institution is required. Master’s is preferred. Education will be verified.

  • Demonstrated senior level experience in financial management, planning and analysis in a large, multi-site and complex healthcare organization.

  • Demonstrated senior level experience as a finance leader for a physician group practice, system-level executive or through experience as a director/partner at a national consulting organization.

  • Extensive broad-based knowledge of health care finance, multi-specialty physician practice operations, physician compensation and productivity models, business planning/development, and payor environment.

  • Demonstrated working knowledge of generally accepted accounting principles, thorough knowledge of reimbursement principles and operations, and health care regulations.

  • Demonstrated expertise in financial analysis and the ability to solve complex analytical problems.

  • Ability to demonstrate leadership skills including the ability to influence others and achieve results with and without direct line accountability, and function in both a leadership and support role in a team and system environment.

  • Experience and success working collaboratively and productively with physicians.

  • Experience directly managing staff with the ability to coach and mentor employees.

  • Must demonstrate detail-orientation with excellent organizational and analytical skills, along with being flexible and adaptable to change.

  • Demonstrated excellent communication skills (both written and oral) with the ability to communicate with all levels of the organization, including staff, management, and physicians.

  • Experience with and a working knowledge of hospital revenue cycle operations, supply chain, payer environment, and the Medicare/Medicaid cost report - and - Database knowledge preferred.

  • The qualified candidate must live within the Grand Junction market and work on site at St. Mary’s Regional Hospital.

The hourly range for this position is listed below. Actual hourly rate dependent upon experience.

$50.50 - $335.60
