CITY OF GRAND ISLAND Wading Pool Attendant - Parks Temporary in GRAND ISLAND, Nebraska
Description
Perform a variety of duties in the maintenance of City park wading pools including water testing and recording.
Essential Functions
Display honest, trustworthy, and ethical behavior when dealing with internal and external customers. Establish and maintain cooperative working relationships with those contacted in the course of work.
Regular attendance that is punctual and dependable is required.
Clean pools of any foreign debris, clean pool decking.
Test pool water chemistry and record readings; add chemicals as required.
Work flexible hours, including weekends and holidays (mornings, afternoons and evenings).
Utilize proper safety precautions in all work performed.
May perform semi-skilled and skilled tasks involving the maintenance, and repair of park wading pools.
May perform basic carpentry work and painting for building and maintaining recreational facilities.
Communicate unsafe conditions to supervisors.
May assist in other sections of the Department as necessary.
Perform related duties as assigned.
Qualifications
Knowledge of:
Methods, techniques, and procedures related to assigned area of responsibility.
Traffic laws, ordinances and rules.
Purposes and uses of a variety of equipment, power tools and hand tools.
Ability to:
Operate vehicles in a safe and effective manner.
Be attentive to detail.
Work effectively in the absence of close supervision.
Use and operate hand tools, mechanical equipment, power tools and other equipment required for the work in a safe and efficient manner.

Any combination of experience and training that would likely provide the required knowledge and abilities is qualifying. A typical way to obtain the knowledge and abilities would be:
Experience:
No experience required. Must be 18 years of age.
Training:
Formal or informal education or training which ensures the ability to read and write at a level necessary for successful job performance.
License or Certification:
Employee must possess a valid drivers license and maintain insurability as determined by the Citys insurance carrier.

Working Hours:
This positions hours will vary between Monday through Sunday 6:30am - 8:30pm and will work split shifts during these times. Hours will vary depending on department needs but will include working days, evenings, weekends and holidays.
The duration of the position is May through Labor Day.
Salary:
Position will start at the entry level of the City's salary table. Consideration may be given if experience exceeds entry level qualifications.
