Orange County NY Commissioner of Emergency Services in Goshen, New York

The incumbent is serving in this position under approval pursuant to Section 211 of the Retirement and Social Security Law. In order to determine if there is sufficient basis for a new request for the incumbent, Orange County is conducting a public inquiry as to the availability of qualified non-retired persons for recruitment.This position is responsible for the administration, management and supervision of the operation of theEmergency Services department, which encompasses the Divisions of Fire, Emergency Management, Emergency Medical Services, Emergency Communications and Police Liaison Services. The Commissioner also directs the development and implementation of policies, procedures, and programs to maximize theCounty’s response to incidents through emergency services. The Commissioner reports directly to the CountyExecutive. The commissioner is appointed by the County Executive and confirmed by the County Legislature.SUGGESTED MINIMUM QUALIFICATIONS: Bachelor’s Degree and ten (10) years of progressivelyresponsible experience in the emergency services field, five (5) years of which were in an administrativesupervisory capacity.SALARY RANGE: $102,344.13- $209,002.00FINAL CANDIDATES MUST SUBMIT TO A FINGERPRINT CHECK AND CRIMINAL HISTORY AND BACKGROUNDINVESTIGATION.
