ABOUT THIS POSITION This position is responsible for supporting all multi-state indirect tax including Sales & Use Tax, Annual Reports, and Business Licenses. OPPORTUNITIES YOU WILL HAVE IN THIS ROLE Support compliance cycle for state and local sales/use tax returns, secretary of state annual reports, and business licenses in an accurate and timely matter. Bring exposure issues to the manager's attention as they arise. Leverage available research tools and external resources to keep current on changes in tax law. Support state and local sales tax audits. Prepare necessary entries and reconcile tax accounts to the general ledger monthly. Support the accounting team with customer taxation / interface between Microsoft Dynamics 365 (ERP) and Avalara (Tax Engine). Manage new customer setup requests and exemption status in tax exemption certificate database (Avalara). Maintain current customer exemption certificates to avoid expiration. Maintain current state and local business licenses to include locality registrations for sales tax compliance as well as sales tax license renewals on a timely basis. Monitor tax notices and change of taxation rules including filing frequencies in all state/local jurisdictions. Perform other duties, including support of income tax and other business initiatives, as assigned.
