ABOUT THIS POSITION The Director of Market Access and Government Relations is responsible for collaborating with the SVP of Global Market Access to secure and maintain optimal CMS coverage policies and payments for Inspire therapy. Reporting to the SVP Global Market Access, the Director Market Access & Gov't Policy will lead development and execution of CMS coverage strategy (NCD/LCDs) to align with FDA indications, monitor and engage with CMS payment teams (OPPS, ASC, Physician Payment) annually to ensure appropriate Ambulatory Payment Classification (APC) assignment and payment for relevant codes, and lobby for federal reforms to CMS methodologies that lead to underpayment of device intensive procedures across US geographies. OPPORTUNITIES YOU WILL HAVE IN THIS ROLE Establishing and executing the market access & reimbursement strategy for Inspire therapy for US government entities such as CMS. These include coverage policies for implantation of hypoglossal nerve stimulation systems, APC assignment for all CPT codes utilized by Inspire, and collaborative management of Medicare led fee schedules for facilities and physicians. Work in close partnership with SVP of Global Market Access to identify and collaborate with other interested industry partners to drive reform in two key areas of national payment setting: The algorithm used to apply Wage Index to facility payments for Device Intensive APCs which currently applies labor adjustments to device cost; and the depth of payment cut applied to Ambulatory Surgery Center (ASC) payments when a procedure moves from the Hospital Outpatient site of service to the ASC. The projects listed above require the ability to form collaborative industry working groups; perform detailed research and analysis of CMS data sets, methodologies & policy; identify, leverage and manage specialty consultants as necessary; forge collaborative relationships with all CMS stakeholders; and engage with elected officials & lobbyists as programs progress. Monitor annual updates to coverage policy language and Medicare payment rates, and engage with payers to optimize both Partner with R&D and upstream Marketing to provide reimbursement input to new product development programs Partner with Inspire's European Market Access team to ensure a consistent Health Technology Assessment (HTA) strategy is implemented across national health government agencies. WHAT YOU CAN BRING TO OUR GREAT TEAM Required: Bachelor's degree. MBA, PharmD, MSc in Economics, Finance or Health Policy preferred. Minimum of 10 years' experience from the medical device industry or healthcare field including significant experience in medical device reimbursement and market access Proven experience in developing market access and reimbursement strategies and obtaining reimbursement codes and coverage policies for new products. Experience orking directly with Medicare's physician and hospital payment teams to optimize APC levels and physician fee schedules Experience developing value dossier from a broad range of therapy areas to ensure value proposition achieve objectives among payer relationships In-depth understanding of Health Technology Assessment methodologies, National Service Frameworks, health care systems, payer trends and market access pathways. Experience building, leading, and resourcing national/strategic account teams with track-record of success in securing positive payer coverage and payment In-depth understanding of clinical development as well as the regulatory, legal environment of the MedTech industry, demonstrated integrity on work-related compliance considerations, and solid ethics Strong strategic thinking skills, ability to scenario plan, craft strategic options, prioritize and problem solve Strong negotiation / influence skills and the ability to work at a peer-level with experienced technical and commercial experts in other functions Preferred: Excellent communication skills with the ability to communicate complex information in a Experienced and adept at navigating international, multilingual, and cross-functional organizational matrices and work effectively with regions and country affiliates .
