Job Title: Tolling Operator / Colorado Dept. of Transportation Duration: 6+ Months Shift days: Saturday -Wednesday, Wednesday - Sunday, Thursday - Monday Shift Timing: 10 Hours a day (Hybrid)

Job Description: Looking for highly motivated, self-starters to join our Tolling Operator Team. Experience is desired; but., the ability to learn at quick pace, adapt and contribute, as necessary, to our growing program may be considered. The operator position is the eyes and ears of detection and management of all activities related to tolling operations. As the Tolling Operator, you will monitor the roadways to detect, confirm, update, and respond to scheduled and unscheduled traffic incidents related to tolling, congestion and, once implemented, monitor dynamic toll pricing for the Express Lanes. You will also provide administrative support, perform research and investigation, maintain databases, and fulfill request from the Operations and Maintenance leadership and contracted team members (i.e. Atkins and others) and other departments. As a support to the CDOT Traffic Operations team, this roll will learn and execute, upon request, the Traffic Management Duties listed below. The Tolling Operator will closely and proactively monitor the tolling equipment, prioritizing safety and being mindful of revenue loss by reporting events to proper teams and authorities that lead to resolution. Also, when required, create maintenance tickets to report and document events that impact toll revenue collection. Will work closely with the tolling maintenance team (and other teams) and become knowledgeable with reporting specific failures to the correct contractors/departments that are responsible for resolving a reported issue. Using Tolling and Traffic Dedicated Software/Apps/Platforms such as TAP, OpenTMS and ETC RiteSuites, the Tolling Operator will continually monitor the Real-Time activities of the Express Lanes to ensure AVI Transponders and License Plate are being read and recorded, become aware of problems, and identify trends. Will also react to incidents and events that occur along the Express Lanes Network that impact the Express Lanes as well the General Purpose lanes. As necessary and in accordance with policy perform toll voids, regular and periodic logging of routine events to include checking all cameras, toll systems on TAP, confirm VTMS displays, react to alarm and status notifications from email and initiate regular review of general system health while providing documentation with a daily email log, updated every two hours, minimally. Live and real-time tracking of system outages, equipment failures, and network interruptions to all relevant parties via email, text, or phone. Create and follow up on all tickets for maintenance issues that remain unresolved. Contacting the CDOT NOC by phone or email to get help for issues needing immediate resolution for equipment or fiber that fall within the CDOT maintenance teams. Each Express Lane Corridor has its own Business Rules, Operational Requirements, that include days and hours of operations and behavior patterns. While Tolling Operators will initially be hired to support a specific corridor, all operators are required to become knowledgeable and able to perform cross-functionally throughout the Express Lanes network.

Traffic Management Duties Monitors congestion and incident information using various tools including ATMS and ATIS, EM radio traffic, CAD feeds and traffic reports from local media partners for incidents. Creates identified incident in ATMS, notifies appropriate personnel, and provides additional responses as required. Actively reviews or implements traffic management through the use of tools such as ATMS, ATIS, DMS/CMS (Dynamic Message Signs/Changeable Message Signs), Ramp Metering, 511 floodgates, and develops alternate route provisions when an incident or heavy congestion is detected and verified. Impl ments travel time postings on DMS/CMS during peak traffic hours, as needed. Activates Amber/Silver Alerts or other messages on regional devices as outlined in SOPs.
