Tomorrow.io's Space & Sensors team is responsible for the development of unique RF and acoustic-based sensing systems, such as radar, radiometer and sonar, from architecture through implementation. The team is also responsible for the development of corresponding spacecraft and constellations in support of Tomorrow.io's Operation Tomorrow Space, which will collect data to be integrated seamlessly into our existing forecasting and modeling systems, revolutionizing global weather intelligence.

We are looking for a Hardware Development Team Lead to join a cutting edge, multidisciplinary team to help us execute complex development programs. Applications include, but are not limited to, weather and climate remote sensing, navigation and situational awareness, as well as enabling the most capable weather intelligence platform in the world. As a Hardware Development Team Lead at Tomorrow.io, you will play a critical role in both leading and contributing to cutting-edge hardware development through all phases of the development cycle: requirements gathering and definition, design, development, prototyping, implementation, verification, testing, integration, calibration, and documentation.

What you'll do: Architect, design, develop, manufacture, and test the next generation sensor product lines - primarily software-defined radar systems - in support of multiple Space & Sensors division programs, including the ARENA and associated GSE. Be responsible for hardware through all phases of the development cycle: requirements gathering and definition, design, manufacturing, implementation testing, integration, calibration, documentation, and ownership through final release and delivery. Lead and functionally manage an electrical engineering team in successfully executing against the company priorities. Work closely with a multidisciplinary engineering team, both internally and externally, to define and implement next generation hardware implementations of the ARENA Software Defined Radar (SDR) to enable Space-, airborne-, and ground-based sensing systems Contribute to the company's engineering culture by implementing best engineering practices and helping to improve on existing processes and procedures. Design, document, implement, simulate, and test new hardware designs including planning and estimation of the required tasks. Develop and document requirements and specifications of digital hardware and systems. Actively engage with systems engineers, scientists, and program managers to translate operational capabilities to system requirements and executable tas Actively engage with both internal and external customers and be a technical representative of the company What you bring: B.S. in Electrical Engineering with multiple roles open at varying levels of seniority and experience. 12+ years minimum relevant experience or M.S. degree in electrical engineering or related discipline with 10+ years minimum relevant experience. Experience being an effective technical team leader with skills in managing and maintaining the execution of an interdisciplinary engineering team focused on successful implementation of company priorities, including engineering contractor and consultant management. Ability to work in an agile environment with changing priorities. Demonstrated experience mixing serial hardware development with software development that utilizes Agile methodology. Familiarity with Atlassian tools is a plus. Experience working with Altium circuit design and layout tool packages (or similar complex development tools) and industry standard simulation tool packages. Experience with large FPGAs (Xilinx Ultrascale, Xilinx Ultrascale+, et cetera) and high-speed Multi-Gbps transceivers (JESD204, PCIE, 10GigE, et cetera) including signal integrity analysis and implementation of the copper transmission paths. Experience with low speed interfaces (USB, SPI, UART, SpaceWire) Experien e with designing multi giga-sample ADCs & DACs Experience with board bring-up, debugging, and validation experience, including development of Test Procedures Experience with designing for Space/Radiation environments Electrical Systems Engineering experience (i.e., working to derive requirements from end-use applications) Bias to action and have a "get things done" mindset.
