The Logistics Manager is a key part of our domestic and international vendor shipping and getting essential products to our stores and our customers nationwide. Located at the Batteries Plus Bulbs national distribution center in Glendale, WI, within the metro Milwaukee area, the Logistics Manager is responsible for freight utilization and management, program enhancements and optimization, compliance, P&L management, and people management of a small team of transportation and logistics professionals. Batteries Plus Bulbs is a growing national retailer with 700+ stores nationwide and has been acknowledged as an "essential business" and we have remained open to provide our customers with essential products during the current pandemic.
The ideal Logistics Manage r candidate will have 5+ years of related experience in Logistics, Supply Chain, or Transportation, a Bachelor's Degree, previous supervisory experience, and experience with a multi-shipper or Tier 1 / Tier 2 Transportation Management System (TMS). Additionally, the ability to communicate effectively to all levels of the organization, the ability to provide program enhancements, and knowledge of current international vendor shipping changes and challenges are essential to this position. Freight utilization and management including managing, directing, and monitoring transportation services
Utilize and update the Transportation Management System / TMS to route and optimize freight movements, manage carrier performance, and drive efficiencies
Meet with carrier representatives and evaluate performance
Facilitate and manage selection of transportation vendors, negotiation and maintenance of transportation contracts
Ensure HTS code management
Program enhancements and optimization
Provide reporting and analysis, benchmark and report on KPIs
Work cross-functionally to meet cost projections
Compliance including developing and implementing compliance plans and training regarding HAZMAT and Homeland Security shipping requirements and training
Resolve freight delays, carrier problems, or vendor issues
Provide leadership, coaching, training and development to support associates
5+ years of related experience in Logistics, Supply Chain, or Transportation,
Bachelor's Degree with an emphasis in in Business, Logistics, Supply Chain, or related field
Experience with a multi-shipper or a Tier 1/Tier 2 Transportation Management System (TMS)
Experience with global shipping, with a focus on North America
Prior experience and knowledge of Ocean, LTL, Parcel, and Air Freight management
APICS Certification or willingness to pursue
Demonstrated strong understanding of logistics concepts, planning tools, and software (MRP, WMS, TMS)
Previous supervisory experience preferred
