This position is responsible for measuring and improving the flow of product through Distribution Center departments from receiving to delivery to Batteries Plus retail stores and other customers. Identify opportunities to reduce costs and improve throughput using a systematic review of distribution processes; tactical and strategic planning; and developing method enhancements to sustain continuous improvements.
Essential responsibilities (other duties as assigned)
Conduct industrial engineering time studies and labor audits to validate and ensure the reasonableness and soundness of all implemented labor standards
Establish / refine operational process productivity labor standards
Analyze and develop distribution center cost improvement opportunities; identify bottlenecks and improve flow to create and maintain optimum warehouse operations
Perform value stream mapping, process improvements and standardization
Work with vendors to identify operational equipment and automation solutions
Support the Maintenance department by developing list of critical spare parts, min/max tracker
Develop methods for tracking and reporting warehouse key performance indicators (KPI's)
Evaluate and advise distribution management on potential operational improvements
Facilitation of lean events and audit for compliance for Lean / 5s.
Partner with distribution center departments to identify and implement process improvements with a focus on Safety, Quality, Cost, Delivery and Engagement
Conduct ergonomic studies and make recommendations / implement improvements
Write work instructions and standard operating procedures (SOP's)
Participate in the selection of location, design, layout, and implementation of secondary warehouse or 3PL operation to support order fulfillment
Bachelor's Degree in Industrial Engineering or related field
3-5 years experience in Industrial Engineering. Lean / Six Sigma Certification a preferred
Experience with labor standards
PLC experience a plus
In depth knowledge of warehousing and distribution center operations
Thorough understanding of computer systems and the ability to generate reports and findings
Experience with Warehouse Management Systems highly desirable
Excellent written, oral, and interpersonal skills
Experience with analytical tools such as flow charts, Pareto charts, cause and effect diagrams, run charts, etc.
Working knowledge of Google Suite, MS Office and/or other similar databases or software with an ability to adapt learning to incorporate new technology
Demonstrated problem solving skills. Must use considerable judgment to make decisions; devise and adapt existing methods to meet new or evolving requirements; make related decisions guided by precedent within the limits of established policies.
Process oriented with good project management skills; capable of managing multiple tasks simultaneously. Ability to take ownership of a project and effectively prioritize work to meet business requirements. Strongly motivated with a sense of urgency
