We are looking for an Environmental Graphic Designer to develop signage and show graphics to help tell the stories in Walt Disney World Theme Parks, Water Parks, Resorts, and Disney Cruise Line.

You will report to the Graphic Design Executive.

This is an estimated 30-month Project Hire position without any guarantee of permanent placement.

What You Will Do

  • Support the project team for the design and implementation of assigned projects.

  • Develop varied Environmental Graphic and Sign Design solutions for project work at all stages from concept design through the preparation of construction documentation.

  • Ensure that the creative intent is achieved by integrating sign design with other teams and components of the facility's exterior, interior, and area development.

  • Prepare specific deliverables including: locating signs on base sheets and elevations; material call outs; drawing packages to describe the sign's look and fabrication, Production art; etc.

  • Ensure adherence to department/divisional Standards of Practice.

  • Provide support to multiple Environmental Graphic design projects by assisting in project design development and technical documentation.

  • Prepare Signage design information and documentation.

  • Provide design documentation in the form of illustrations, photographs, scaled images, research, and documentation on assigned projects.

  • Perform several basic technical tasks and documentation including plotting elevations, locating signs, and reading and plotting floor plans and area development plans.

  • Make daily decisions on a scope of work with guidance from the Lead Graphic Designer.

  • Communicate and coordinate with others in the department and as part of a larger, multidiscipline project team.

  • Could act as Graphic Design Representative at project team meetings.

  • May influence department or project team based on specific expertise or previous experience.

  • Coordinate and communicate Graphic Design issues within the team.

  • Support the implementation of project goals through the development of design solutions.

Required Qualifications & Skills

  • 3+ years of experience in Environmental Graphic design practice.

  • Knowledge of Sign Code requirements for facilities and Theme Park applications.

  • Demonstrated thoughtful design and artistic skills in solving architectural graphic design challenges.

  • Experience in Creative Suite 6 or digital illustration tools such as Photoshop, Illustrator, Adobe Publisher, In Design, Sketch-up and MS Office Suite.

  • Knowledge of Architectural Graphic Design and sign construction techniques.

  • Knowledge of programming Architectural Signage for different applications (cruise ships, hotels, restaurants, retail, museums, parking facilities, etc.).

  • Knowledge of Wayfinding systems and programming.

  • Knowledge of all phases of a sign design program.

  • Preferred knowledge in related areas: Architecture, Interior Design, and Area Development.

Education

  • Bachelor’s degree from an accredited program

The hiring range for this onsite position in Glendale, CA is $77,100.00 – $103,400.00 per year, which factors in various geographic regions. The base pay actually offered will take into account internal equity and also may vary depending on the candidate’s geographic region, job-related knowledge, skills, and experience among other factors. A bonus and/or long-term incentive units may be provided as part of the compensation package, in addition to the full range of medical, financial, and/or other benefits, dependent on the level and position offered.
