Powder Coating Technician

U-Haul’s manufacturing team as a Powder Coating Technician. We are looking for both experienced technicians as well as candidates willing to be trained. Our Team Members use their skills to support the manufacturing of trucks, trailers and support equipment for the largest do-it-yourself moving company in the world.

Primary Responsibilities:

  • Maintains shot blasting equipment, automated and manual application powder coating process equipment and cure ovens.

  • Inspects parts for quality and informs the supervisor of any problems.

  • Responsible for proper paint application per product specifications.

  • Adjust automatic gun adjustments for the various hanging arrangements.

  • Responsible for the care and safe handling of the manual application equipment.

  • Understand, support, and implement the company’s Housekeeping, Safety and Quality policies and procedures into daily work habits.

  • Other duties as assigned.

  • Wear and maintain protective clothing and equipment including safety glasses, face shields, respirators, coveralls and steel toe safety shoes.

  • Follow all safety practices during assembly and production operations and ensure work areas are maintained in a safe, clean, and orderly manner.

Minimum Qualifications:

  • Preferred experience in a wet painting or powder coating environment.

  • Must have the ability to write, speak and read in English.

  • Must be able to lift 50 lbs. unassisted

  • Regular attendance is essential.

Work Environment:

The work involves moderate risks or discomforts which require special safety precautions, eg., working around moving parts, machines, fumes, or irritating chemicals. May be required to use protective clothing, or gear such as masks, goggles, gloves, or shields.

Physical Demands:

The work requires physical exertion such as extended periods indoors and outdoors of remaining stationery, traversing spaces, repositioning to reach and use tools, and moving at least 50 lbs. assisted or unassisted.
