Rowan University Program Assistant-AS, Financial Aid in Glassboro, New Jersey

Summary:

Under the direction of the Associate Director of Financial Aid, this position provides quality service to prospective and current students, requiring excellent communication skills and attention to detail. Follows student aid program practices and policies including federal, state and university regulations to accurately assist clients. Works collaboratively with the entire team to successfully perform various financial aid office duties. Responsibilities:

  • Assist in the daily operation of the office by answering the phone, live chat, and email, attending to incoming and outgoing correspondence, data entry, and front desk as needed/scheduled.

  • Performs coordinated student outreach campaigns as identified by the Associate Director. These may be outbound calling or texting campaigns.

  • Provides exceptional customer service while ensuring students understand all policies and procedures related to their financial aid application. Determines the customer’s individual need and provides accurate guidance and appropriate forms.

  • Represents the office at various office outreach programs such as: open house, accepted student days, new student orientation, and financial literacy programs. These may be in-person or virtual. On camera presence required when virtual. This will include evenings and weekends when scheduled.

  • Uses Ellucian Banner, CampusLogic, ServiceNow, Webex, federal student aid databases and other software programs to complete tasks. Adheres to student data security and confidentiality protocols.

  • Reviews documentation submitted to ensure the student submitted what is required to complete verification, appeals, or to clear eligibility edits. Must be able to accurately and concisely instruct students and parents on steps to complete while avoiding jargon.

  • Performs various data entry and student application record updates. Completes work assigned quickly and accurately.

  • Collaborates with partner offices to resolve complicated student or program-related issues. Recommends solutions for senior management consideration when necessary.

    Requirements:

  • Demonstrated ability and desire to provide quality and caring service to students and other constituents.

  • Excellent and effective communication skills, including handling stressful situations.

  • Must be comfortable working with technology and proficient with Microsoft applications. Experience with Banner and CampusLogic a plus.

  • An understanding of undergraduate financial aid programs and regulations is preferred. Willing to train the right candidate who demonstrates excellent customer service skills and the ability to learn and retain complex information.

    Requirements Note: Applicants must meet one of the following or a combination of both experience and education. Thirty (30) semester hour credits are equal to one (1) year of relevant experience.

    Four (4) years of professional position-related experience.

    OR

    Possession of a bachelor's degree from an accredited college or university.

    OR

    Possession of an associate's degree; and two (2) years of professional position-related experience.

    Note: "Professional experience" refers to work that is analytical, evaluative, and interpretive; requires a range of basic knowledge of the profession's concepts and practices; and is performed with the authority to act and make accurate and informed decisions.

    Salary:

  • P16 (Step 1 $49,738-$56,485)
