Rowan University Head Coach - Football, PSS2 in Glassboro, New Jersey
TERM OF APPOINTMENT: 12 Months – Annual Contract
QUALIFICATIONS:
Bachelor’s degree required, master’s preferred.
Demonstrated ability to work effectively with college athletes and administrators.
Ability to organize an effective recruitment and retention program for student-athletes.
Knowledge of and strict adherence to NCAA &NJAC rules and regulations.
RESPONSIBILITIES:
Responsible to the Director of Athletics
Organization and administration of the Football Program
Develop and maintain a program that is competitive within the conference, region and nation.
Maintain a thorough knowledge of the rules and regulations of the NJAC and NCAA
Conduct planned, organized practice sessions.
Scout opponents when appropriate
Coordinate team travel plans.
Prepare and submit team budget requests.
Provide information, as requested, to the Sports Information Director
Attend conference coaches’ meetings and press conferences.
Attend media luncheons when appropriate.
Nominate and complete proper forms for honoring student athletes in a timely manner.
Submit eligibility information to the Compliance Officer
Communicate and work with the Compliance Officer in monitoring student athletes’ academic progress.
Responsible for inventory, care, and distribution of equipment in conjunction with the Equipment Manager.
Hire and supervise assistant coaches with the approval of the Athletics Director
Schedule competition within NCAA and conference guidelines and with the approval of the Athletics Director or designee
Conduct fund-raising activities within department and university guidelines, to supplement program needs.
Submit end of season reports and other paperwork as requested by the Athletics Director or designee.
Develop a knowledge of and adhere to NCAA and NJAC rules and regulations.
Keep abreast of current and new coaching trends by attending clinics, workshops, and conferences when appropriate.
- Organization and Administration of Recruitment and Retention Program
Develop an effective communication/recruitment program with prospective student athletes.
Develop contacts with secondary school and junior college coaches.
Develop a positive working relationship with the Admissions Office
Submit recruitment forms/logs as periodically requested by the Athletics Director
Develop an effective retention program for Student athletes in conjunction with the Athletic Academic Advisor, and Academic Support Services
- Public Relations Related Activities
Develop an effective communications network with University faculty, administration and staff
Cultivate a working relationship with the Alumni Office
Develop a strong base of alumni and friends of the program.
Participation in Gridiron Club events
Active involvement with the Gridiron Club to ensure NCAA compliance.
Communicate and speak to high school, professional and community organizations when requested.
- Additional Professional Responsibilities
Attend post season, special recognition events with student athletes.
Winter/Spring game management
Facility supervision as needed and assigned.
Supervise college work study students.
Participate in the national coaches’ associations related to your field.
Become active in committee work when appropriate at the local, regional and national levels.
Other duties as assigned by the Athletics Director
