Adjunct Faculty Positions in All Areas of Electrical and Computer Engineering

If you have prior academic or - in particular - industrial experience, have a passion for hands-on, project-based teaching, would like to share your knowledge and wisdom with an enthusiastic group of students, and in fact shape the next generation workforce of our nation, we want you in our classrooms and laboratories.

With a dramatic increase in undergraduate and graduate enrollment and a new building that allows us to expand, the Electrical and Computer Engineering Department (http://www.rowan.edu/ece) (www.rowan.edu/ece) at Rowan University is growing. To support this robust growth, we seek energetic and innovative teacher-scholars as Adjunct Professors who are interested in sharing their knowledge and wisdom with our students and share our commitment to excellence in engineering education.

Our Adjunct Professors, who are typically active or retired industry professionals, constitute an important part of the fabric of the Rowan ECE community as they bring their unique experiences and perspectives to our department.

The successful candidates will be responsible for teaching innovative and project-based courses in the electrical and computer engineering curriculum. These courses can be core or elective courses based on the applicant's area of expertise. We welcome qualified and dedicated individuals with a background in all areas of ECE, including but not limited to:

  • Digital and embedded systems,

  • Computer architecture,

  • Circuits, electronics, power electronics,

  • VLSI design, chip design, advanced chip manufacturing, solid-state systems

  • Control systems,

  • Signal and image processing,

  • Communication systems,

  • Electromagnetics and modern antenna systems

  • RF /microwave systems

  • Power systems, renewable and alternative energy systems, modern battery systems

  • Robotics

  • Machine learning / artificial intelligence

  • Systems engineering

  • Cybersecurity, cyber-physical systems

  • Your favorite emerging topic in any area that relates to ECE

As a department, we greatly value experiential and project-based learning, integrating emerging topics and technologies into the curriculum, and providing an outstanding and state-of-the-art array of equipment, instruments, rapid prototyping, fabrication and computational resources (https://engineering.rowan.edu/programs/electricalcomputer/about/facilities.html) to support such activities. Our dedication to project-based learning is reflected in our curriculum (https://engineering.rowan.edu/programs/electricalcomputer/undergraduate/index.html) , as all our courses have lab/project components. As a result, we seek individuals who share this dedication, have the skills and passion to develop innovative hands-on lab projects or other experiential learning activities using appropriate modern tools, and have the ability to integrate such projects/activities into the course content.

Applicants must have earned at least a Master of Science degree in Electrical Engineering, Computer Engineering, Computer Science or a related discipline. Individuals with industry and/or academic experience are particularly encouraged to apply.

Strong communication skills, the ability to work with multi-disciplinary student and faculty teams, and the ability to teach in a project-based setting are essential. The appointment is part-time, non-tenure-track, with renewable contracts based on performance (including student evaluations), departmental needs, and university and budgetary approvals.
