Aggreko Production Test Engineer in Glasgow, United Kingdom

We’re looking for Production Test Engineer based out of our Lomondgate Production Facility.

What you’ll do:

  • Complete test process for equipment (such as Aggreko Generators, high voltage equipment, temperature control & cooling modules and loadbanks). Display a logical and competent knowledge of AC generator, high horsepower engine, cooling systems and controls systems during the test process.

  • Complete programming and testing of Aggreko and vendor control systems showing a competence for software management and installations.

  • Complete load testing of Aggreko products and ensure all results fall in line with technical specification. Display a logical and competent knowledge & methodical approach to issue resolving & fault finding.

  • Ensure Test process is carried out in a safe manner applying LOTO where necessary & having safety as your primary focus.

  • Ensure High Voltage Systems Best Operating Practices and legislation are adhered to throughout the Test process if testing HV.

  • Identify and resolve technical problems that are identified during the build and test process. Report issues found to Section Manager & Engineering. Offering improvements and working alongside Engineering to come up with solutions.

  • Reporting and escalating technical issues that cannot be resolved in a timely manner. Ensuring each issue is closed off with an appropriate technical and manufacturing solution.

  • Identify quality or technical problems raised by build standards and work with Section Managers & the wider team to eliminate recurring problems.

  • Communicate progress to Section Manager and highlight any areas in which targets are unlikely to be met as soon as possible.

  • Being clear and precise on details when feeding back to Section Manager & communicating handovers to the rest of the Test Team.

  • Occasionally travel to customer and supplier sites to resolve technical issues.

  • Taking a lead role in 6S principles / initiatives and always maintaining world class standards within the department and shop floor.

    You’ll have the following skills and experience:

  • An HNC/HND or equivalent in Electrical and / or Mechanical Engineering, will have served a recognised apprenticeship in an electrical and / or mechanical discipline, or have equivalent related 2 year experience minimum

  • HV Qualification - C&G preferred. Desirable but not essential.

  • Initial & Periodic Testing & Inspection. City & Guilds 2391 – 52. Desirable but not essential.

  • Experience of equipment and controls systems testing. Ideally you have experience of the testing and maintenance of diesel power generators, gas power generators, High Voltage Transformers and High Voltage Switchgear.

  • Ability to understand and interpret electrical schematic diagrams and follow, to resolution, logical fault identification processes.

  • Target focused, able to cope with demanding Production schedules and ready to work out-with normal hours when the job requires.

  • High level of computer literacy with effective communication and administrative skills.

The role will require flexibility in working hours across Dayshift, Nightshift and Overtime when the plan requires it. This may involve a Rota or short to medium term continuous shift cover.

  • Hours: 6.30AM to 5PM or 7.00AM to 5.30PM

  • 40 hours per week

  • Nightshift: 7pm to 7am Monday to Friday when business requires - voluntary basis.
