Job Duties and Responsibilities

DISH is looking for an entry level Video Compression Engineer, who will be responsible for building, maintaining, monitoring, and verifying the reliability for all compression systems across the Uplink facilities.

Key Responsibilities:

  • Identifies complex system problems, and proactively finds solutions to those problems

  • High competency in writing and creating operating procedures

  • Has deep knowledge of functionality of production data and systems

  • Works cross-functionally with all levels of the organization with highly collaborative relationships

  • Actively participates in discussions providing constructive feedback on process or production improvements

  • Able to independently prioritize work to changing goals and directives must be detail-oriented, provide minimal mentoring, strong team leadership, and available for all shift work including on-call

  • Core and Local Service Encoding

  • 3rd Party Encoding & Video Handoff

  • Software Download Spooling for STBs

  • Emergency Restoral Support

  • 3 Party Tier1 Support for multiple clients

  • Channel Launch Operations across all lines of business.

Skills, Experience and Requirements

Education and Experience:

  • BA/BS preferred

  • 0-3 years of progressively related experience

Skills and Qualifications:

  • Performs work with those in the compression department under supervision

  • Instructions are limited and will require critical thinking and problem-solving; work can be routine or complex in nature

  • Ability to lift 50 lbs., to install or remove from various rack locations from below knee level to above head

  • Ability to work on and monitor any system, regardless of content matter

  • 24x7 Team available to work all shifts

Salary Ranges

Compensation: $72,400.00/Year - $103,400.00/Year

The base pay range shown is a guideline. Individual total compensation will vary based on factors such as qualifications, skill level, and competencies; compensation is based on the role's location and is subject to change based on work location.
