Team Gilbert has an exciting opportunity for a highly motivated professional to fill the position of Intelligent Transportation Systems (ITS) Systems Analyst.

The Intelligent Transportation Systems Analyst under general supervision performs advanced- level technical traffic engineering and system analysis duties in the design, analysis, monitoring, and updating of the City's Intelligent Transportation Systems. This class performs technical paraprofessional office and field traffic engineering studies (traffic signal) work at new and existing signals and assist the public regarding traffic signal timing complaints. Specific duties include: developing, monitoring, and updating traffic signal timing plans; implementing coordination plans using the centralized traffic signal computer systems; designing, managing, and implementing responsive or adaptive traffic signal timing networks; monitor traffic conditions and adjust traffic signal timings in response to changing traffic conditions; collecting and analyzing traffic data to improve traffic signal timing; integrating new technologies with existing systems and resolving any compatibility problems; preparing analytical studies and making recommendations; implementing changes to the traffic signal system; and programming, repairing, and/or designing ITS equipment and systems.

This position will assist with traffic engineering projects and activities. Projects include traffic signal construction projects and intelligent transportation system (ITS) construction projects. Additional responsibility may include the reviewing and providing comments for traffic signal/ITS design plans, specifications and traffic signal construction submittals.

This position is an At-Will position and is FLSA Non-Exempt - eligible for overtime compensation.

  • Associate's degree or Two-Year Technical Certificate in Traffic Engineering or Electrical Theory.

  • 5 Years of experience in Traffic Engineering or Traffic Signal Construction and Maintenance.

  • 3 Years of experience in electronics or electrical theory.

  • 2 Years of experience in fiber optic communications.

PREFERED LICENSING/CERTIFICATIONS:

  • IMSA Work Zone Safety Certification - Required within 1 year of hire.

  • IMSA Traffic Signal Inspector 1 Certification- Required within 1.5 years of hire.

  • IMSA Traffic Signal Technician Certification - Field Level 2 - Required within 2.5 years of hire.

  • IMSA Traffic Signal Technician, Construction Level 2 Certification - Highly preferred, but not required.

  • IMSA/FOA Certified Fiber Optic Technician Level 2 Certification - Highly preferred, but not required.

  • IMSA Traffic Signal Technician Level 3 Certification - Highly preferred within 3 years of hire.

  • Arizona Driver's License.
