CTG Engagement Editor in Georgia

Description

CTG is seeking to fill an Engagement Editor opening for our client in Georgia.

Location: Georgia (remote)

Duration: 12 months

CTG is seeking a creative, analytics-driven audience engagement editor to help drive a segmented push alert strategy, inform the newsroom and leadership, help cultivate a top-to-bottom funnel for content engagement, write headlines, pitch stories, and help the creative process for content across all of its platforms.

The ideal candidate is detail-oriented, capable of juggling several tasks at once, loves analytics analysis, is competitive and is a good communicator. They are capable of picking up on trends found in metrics and translating them into innovative story ideas, witty headlines, and new ideas for expanding/engaging our audience. You should feel comfortable jumping between quantitative and qualitative takeaways and applying them to content branding.

Major responsibilities include:

  • Participate in planning conversations about coverage, video creation, graphics, and audience engagement.

  • Steer the focus and branding of our creative content.

  • Manage content placement and promotion across our website, apps and partners and ensure it is current, compelling, and accurate.

  • Use analytics to make smart programming decisions.

  • Dig into analytics to identify audience trends and create user segments, and curate content experiences for those specific segments, including sending targeted notifications.

  • Provide real time feedback to the newsroom about what’s trending and how to shift coverage.

  • Identify trends in user consumption around video and article formats and provide feedback to the content team.

  • Pitch and promote our stories, internally and externally.

Basic Qualifications:

  • Interest in weather coverage.

  • Demonstrated news judgment experience.

  • Strong organizational skills, attention to detail, deadlines, and time-management.

  • Must be willing to work occasional nights.

  • Must be willing to work weekends (Saturday and Sunday) on weekly basis.

  • High ability to multitask.

  • High familiarity with digital analytics.

Preferred Qualifications:

  • 5+ years in breaking news and features for high profile digital news organizations.

  • B.A. in journalism/communications/ liberal arts.

  • Impeccable story selection, storytelling, writing and editing skills -- must have worked in both video and article formats.

  • Extreme comfort in content management systems and ability to work between multiple systems and understand how configurations appear on front-end.

  • Basic understanding of HTML or JSON.

Excellent verbal and written English communication skills and the ability to interact professionally with a diverse group are required.

The expected base salary for this position ranges from $35.00/hr to $38.00/hr. Salary offers are based on a wide range of factors including relevant skills, training, experience, education, market factors, and where applicable, licensure or certifications obtained. In addition to salary, a competitive benefit package is also offered.
