Ottawa County Senior Resources Senior Center Site Assistant PT in Genoa, Ohio

Job Summary:  This position is responsible for assisting with the day to day operations of the Ed Griswold Senior Center in Genoa, with a focus on food service.  This includes the coordination of setting up, serving meals, and clean up. The position will perform the duties of the Site Manager when he or she is not available or upon request by the Site Manager and/or the Director of Senior Resources.

Minimum Qualifications: High school diploma or GED or equivalent combination of training and experience to provide effective communication and excellent record keeping skills.  Experience in Food Service or commercial kitchen helpful.  Must be able to follow written and oral instructions.  Must maintain a valid driver's license and a safe driving record.  Must be bondable.  *Ability to lift and/or carry a minimum of 50 lbs. * Must submit fingerprints for state and/or federal criminal check.  

 

Preferred Qualifications: One year of training or equivalent working knowledge in Food Service or a related field.

Essential Job Functions:                

Meals:

  1. Assist with dining room set up and clean up as requested by Site Manager.
  2. Ensure proper food temperatures and safety are maintained upon the arrival of the bulk food to the dining site and just prior to serving the meal. Record and maintain temperature logs for all foods for each meal served.
  3. Participate in the preparation, packaging, and serving of meals.
  4. Operate and maintain in good working order all kitchen equipment.
  5. Prepare all items to be sent back to the central kitchen.

[Custodian Duties (may include any or all of the following):]{.underline}

  1. Maintain the overall cleanliness of the Senior Center facility.
  2. Sweep, mop, and wax floors on a routine basis.
  3. Vacuum and clean carpets on a routine basis.
  4. Clean windows and change light bulbs as needed.
  5. Dust and/or polish furniture, window ledges, walls, ceilings, light fixtures, etc.
  6. Remove litter and waste from the inside of the building and on the grounds surrounding the building.
  7. Empty trash cans and clean containers as needed.
  8. Replace soap and paper products in dispensers in bathroom and kitchen areas.
  9. Clean and maintain equipment and tools.
  10. Utilize safety measures and assists in overall safety at all times inside the building and on the grounds.
  11. Remove snow from walkways and spread salt as needed.

Volunteers

  1. Assist Site Manager in recruiting, planning, assigning, supervising, and evaluating the work of volunteers of the center to ensure the efficient operations of the center.
  2. Assist Site Manager in providing orientation and training to volunteers of the center.

Communication/Teamwork

  1. Develop and maintain effective working relationship with center employees, volunteers, clients, village, city and county employees, various levels of management, agencies, and the public.
  2. Must be willing and able to work as part of a team to serve the needs of Senior Resources, the Center and senior clients.
  3. Must know and be able to perform all Site Manager duties and responsibilities as necessary to ensure seamless daily experience for clients.

     

*Job Location: *Work is mainly performed at the senior center in Genoa, Monday through Friday.  Some work at other facilities may be required.
