Hobart and William Smith Colleges Visiting Assistant Professor of Biology in Geneva, New York

The Biology Department at Hobart and William Smith Colleges invites applications for a Visiting Assistant Professor to begin August 2024 or January 2025. This is a full-time, one-year position with a teaching load of six courses over two semesters, which typically entails two classes with associated labs and two lecture-only classes. The appointment has the possibility for renewal contingent on successful annual review and ongoing curricular needs. Teaching responsibilities will include an introductory biology course tailored for non-majors and upper-level courses in the candidate’s area of expertise.

Questions about the position can be addressed to the search chair, Dr. Bradley Cosentino cosentino@hws.edu

We are especially interested in candidates with expertise in cell biology, neurobiology, or behavior, but will consider candidates from any area of biology. Candidates with a Ph.D. in an appropriate field are strongly preferred, but A.B.D. with teaching experience will be considered.

Candidates should submit a cover letter, curriculum vitae, contact information for three confidential professional references, a 1-2 page statement summarizing their inclusive teaching philosophy, experience, and potential courses they could teach, and a one-page statement summarizing their research interests via Interfolio. Review of applications will begin April 26 and continue until the position is filled.
