Position Summary

SUNY Geneseo is seeking a Director of Advancement Services to join the Division of College Advancement. The Director of Advancement Services manages numerous functions within College Advancement and is a key member of the Advancement Leadership Team. Responsibilities include oversight for the administration of constituent records and data quality, research and prospect management, gift processing and acknowledgements, database management, data and reporting services, technology and systems, systems infrastructure, systems training support . The DAS is also responsible for the maintenance of the division’s operations support for budgeting, purchasing and risk management and consulting with legal services when necessary for planned gifts.

Required Qualifications

Required Qualifications:

  • Bachelors degree by time of appointment

  • Professional database management experience

  • Demonstrated strong interpersonal and communication skills

  • Demonstrated commitment to fostering a diverse and inclusive working/teaching environment

    Preferred Qualifications

    License/Certification

    Other Skills Required

Experience with complex databases, microsoft office suite and CRMs, budgeting and staff management.

Supervision Received

Position reports to the Vice President College Advancement and serves as a member of College Advancement’s leadership team.

Supervision Exercised

Position supervises the work of the Associate Director of Research and Prospect Management and the Gift Processor.

Job Duty/ Responsibility

Function 1: Oversee the administration of Geneseo Foundation funds through Argos reporting, in collaboration with the finance and administrative team. Manage the creation of donor directed funds and the appropriate administration of gift agreements. Fulfill SUNY and other external reporting obligations.

Job Duty/ Responsibility

Function 2: Oversee the daily opertation of the advancement databases and software platforms. Implement best practices for project management including technology management, maximizing workflow efficiencies, ensuring effective and efficient policies and procedures to meet compliance standards. Ensure systems accuracy in tracking annual and campaign goals. Develop and refine processes for operational efficiences and effectiveness that maintain data integrity and support advancement initiatives. Assist with the creation of reports.

Function 3: Partner with the Fund for Geneseo team to support annual fundraising goals and strategies. Revise data and reporting requirements as needed. Continue to work toward the shared goal of upward trajectory of unrestricted and overall dollars and the increase in alumni donors

Function 4: Partner with the Director of Donor Relations to support the stewardship program and monitor data and reporting requirements. Work with senior leadership to assess, evaluate and continually improve the stewardship program. Ensure data and reporting to donors is clear, consistent, accurate and timely.

Function 5: Partner with Alumni Relations in support of alumni engagement goals. Assist in tracking and reporting engagement metrics. Identify and increase self- service data/reporting tools for event administration.
