Geismar, LA. Hybrid (3 days working onsite, 2 days remotely)

Come create chemistry with us!

We are seeking a professional like you to join our Procurement team at Geismar, LA. Working as the Project Procurement Manager (PPM) is the key in the successful execution of Large Capital Projects and Turnarounds. The PPM will work closely with Corporate Engineering and the Turnaround and Maintenance departments for the projects that they support. As PPM, you will lead the Procurement Strategy, Negotiations, and Contract Execution for the assigned projects and turnarounds.

As a Project Procurement Manager, you create chemistry by...

  • Leading early procurement strategic planning for Large Capital Projects (various locations) and TARs (at Geismar) exceeding $50M in maintenance and capital spending, as well as identifying stakeholders (e.g., procurement managers, TAR management, project management, maintenance owners, operations owners), their requirements, and keeping them informed of procurement-related progress, issues, and concerns.

  • Developing proposals for Procurement strategies, including recommended suppliers, based on stakeholder requirements.

  • Developing and maintaining the final Procurement Plan, working with the Businesses, Engineering & Maintenance, and Legal teams to develop contracting strategies that address stakeholder needs while considering appropriate risk management measures in a highly dynamic and evolving market environment such as TAR services, especially in the Gulf Coast region.

  • Providing in-depth understanding of the capabilities and capacity of civil, mechanical, electrical, and TAR service providers to ensure optimal contractor selection to meet current and future BASF volume requirements, evaluating and assessing the labor market in terms of labor availability, compensation levels, productivity, and other market trends.

  • Gathering data from multiple sources (e.g., contractors, owners, industry analysts) to assess BASF versus 'best-in-class' industry benchmarks, monitoring Procurement performance against milestones, and providing periodic reports to management.

  • Supervising contract personnel in the issuing of bid packages, participating in bid walks, preparing commercial evaluations, executing final contracts, and issuing purchase orders.

If you...

  • Hold a bachelor’s degree in Engineering, Marketing, Supply Chain, Accounting, Construction Management or a related field. An advanced degree in any of these fields would be considered a plus.

  • Have a minimum of 7 years of experience in this role, or a demonstrated track record of at least 5 years of experience in similar positions.

  • Possess a strong business acumen, with a deep understanding of industry trends and market dynamics.

  • Displays excellent communication and stakeholder management abilities.

  • Showcases strong negotiation skills, as the candidate will be responsible for negotiating contracts, managing vendor relationships, and optimizing procurement processes.
