About This Role

Join CAE’s team based in Gatwick as a European Specialist Engineer to help support the CAE training centre network with some of the most advanced simulators in the world.We’re continually looking to foster an environment of learning, development, and progression. At CAE you’ll gain exposure to a broad range of systems to help you develop your technical knowledge. Our team has opportunities across all levels within the function, so there is a progression path available beyond this position. You'll be able to provide technical support (software and hardware including diagnosis, troubleshooting, testing, validation and acceptance) to the existing and upcoming installed training equipment base (FFS and other devices) within the CAE EURAF region. Key Responsibilities :

  • Provide full technical support to the CAE training center network in Europe & Africa & globally under specific circumstances.

  • Travel to CAE sites to deliver the required technical service or support.

  • Travel on an AOG basis to provide technical assistance.

  • Develop and implement tests and validate software fixes.

  • Perform tests and troubleshooting procedures as a part of resolution of discrepancies.

  • Perform review of fixes implemented to address defects with customers and authorities, as required, for acceptance.

  • Liase with the local technical or new deployment team on site to gather technical details about problem experienced with the product.

  • Maintain high quality relationships between technical team on site and OEM to facilitate on time resolution of discrepancies and delivery of programs and projects

  • Travel on an AOG basis to provide technical assistance.

  • Develop aircraft and FSTD systems knowledge and learn new systems as required.

  • Understand the regulatory requirements for the FSTD’s and ensure compliance with them

  • Project Manage CAE deployments, including updates or new deliveries in the European region.

  • Provide mentoring and coaching to Simulator Maintenance Technicians within the CAE network as and when required. Any other duties as may be required.

    Experience required:

  • Technical degree, preferably in aeronautical engineering is desirable although significant experience would be suitable.

  • Experience in design and/or development, project management and/or maintenance of full-flight simulators.

  • Experienced in electro/mechanical and software systems covering all the different aspects of the flight simulator covering many different age technologies.

  • Experience with operating systems i.e. Linux, Unix etc.

  • Deep knowledge of CAE “Classic” technology (pre series 5000 and 7000) or Thales technology

  • Sound aeronautical knowledge, including knowledge of flight dynamics and aircraft systems.

  • Strong skills reading and writing English.

  • Strong Communication and interpersonal skills.

  • Ability to work unsupervised or as part of a team and to use initiative to resolve problems.

  • Possesses effective communication skills (including presentation and report writing)

  • Demonstrates the enthusiasm character and skills required to lead and motivate others.

  • Demonstrates use of interpersonal skills to establish and maintain good relationships with customers, suppliers, National Aviation Authorities, senior management, project team, and support services.

  • Able to understand, use and promote the Company's organisation, practices, processes and procedures.

  • Ability to identify component/interface problems and manage introduction of corrective action.

  • Is resourceful, demonstrating the ability to take independent actions within broad guidelines.
