JOB SUMMARY: The primary responsibilities of the Associate Director of the Bridges to Adelphi Program are to oversee all day to day, social and vocational operations of the Bridges to Adelphi Program. The Associate Director is an active resource on campus, participates in campus committees, and consults with the University administration, faculty and community, promoting training and awareness of issues, trends, best practices, and innovative opportunities to meet the needs, and promote the success of, students with ASD and other non-verbal learning disabilities.

SALARY INFORMATION:

In compliance with New York’s Pay Transparency Act, the annual base salary range for this position is $65,000 - $70,000. Adelphi University considers factors such as departmental budgets, scope and responsibilities of the position, candidate’s work experience, education/training, key skills, internal peer equity, as well as market and organizational considerations when extending an offer. The above hiring range represents the University's good faith and reasonable estimate of the range of possible compensation at the time of posting. An annual base salary higher than the range may be warranted in circumstances where a candidate has demonstrable equivalent prior higher education experience at another University.

RESPONSIBILITIES & DUTIES:

  • Communicates with the Director and the Senior Associate Director on all aspects of the day to day social and vocational operations of the Bridges to Adelphi Program

  • Collaborates with Associate Director on identifying areas to recruit undergraduate and graduate student workers

  • Attend weekly management team meetings, Social case conference hosted by Social Coordinator, Vocational case conference hosted by Vocational Coordinator and weekly Bridges Program Case Meetings to communicate and ensure holistic approach is utilized

  • Conducts intakes with incoming students to identify individualized support plans to meet the students needs

  • Support the Social Coordinator and Vocational Coordinator to oversee all hiring and supervision of all undergraduate and graduate staff member in the academic and social realms

  • Oversee Social Coordinator, Social Liason and Social Support Supervisors in conducting training to onboard social staff effectively

  • Oversee Vocational Coordinator and Vocational Support Supervisors in conducting training to onboard vocational staff effectively

  • Support the hiring of, and effective working relationships with, a diverse and multicultural staff.

  • Communicate with Outreach Coordinator and Administrative staff to ensure all new social and vocational staff are onboarded in a timely manner

  • Support Social Coordinator, Social Liaison, and Vocational Cooridnator when terminating a student worker

  • Communicate with Outreach Coordinator and Administrative Staff to ensure select social and vocational staff are terminated in a timely manner

  • Communicate with the Senior Associate Director to provide support in termination meetings, if needed

  • Collaborate with the Social Coordinator on scheduling all social meetings & social program development, and integrating social services with other program services, and other campus organizations.

  • Collaborate with the Vocational Coordinator on scheduling all vocational meetings & vocational program development, and integrating vocational services with other program services, and other campus organizations

  • Oversee scheduling team to ensure that all requested social and vocational support meetings are scheduled in a timely and accurate manner.

  • Oversee all programming and operations of Bridges Summer Launch program in the social realms.

  • Collaborate with the Senior Associate Director and Reserch team to develop as well as maintain program evaluation procedures in order to assess processes and program efficacy for social and vocational supports

  • Develop and maintain appropriate maintenance policies of confidential student records.

  • Maintain all program forms, handbooks, policy and procedure manual, and other written materials for social and vocational programming.

  • Advocate for students enrolled in the Bridges to Adelphi Program, and work collaboratively with faculty, staff, and other campus community resources to assist students in pursuit of their social and vocational goals

  • Provide neurodiversity awareness workshops on campus to social clubs, organizations, departments that supports socialization, and departments that support vocational goals.

  • Participate in professional development activities.

  • Remain current on ASD issues and neurodiversity issues in secondary and higher education.

  • Foster open communications with departments including Title IX, CARE Team, Student Conduct, CSE, Residential Life and Housing, Career Services, and other departments as identified by the Senior Associate Director, on the status of students of students enrolled in the Bridges Program

  • Support Social Coordinator and Social liaison in strategies to foster self-advocacy for students when students have meetings with other departments including Title IX, Student Conduct, CSE, etc.

  • Support Vocational Coordinator in strategies to foster self-advocacy for students when having meetings with potential employers, employers, and other career/vocational opportunities.

  • Meet and communicate with parents and students to ensure quality of support services

  • Meet individually with students to determine changes in Bridges social and vocational services, as needed.

  • Supervise graduate and undergraduate interns, as needed

  • Work with Social Coordinator on identifying additional community partnerships to further promote socialization across neurodivergent communities

  • Work with the Vocatioal Coordinator on identifying job placement opportunities and partnerships with additional agencies to promote vocational goals and professional development

  • Provide transitional support meetings to students, as needed

  • Perform other job-related duties, as requested by the Director or Senior Associate Director.

    EDUCATIONAL/EXPERIENCE REQUIREMENTS:

  • Master’s degree in Psychology, Social Work, Counseling, or related degree, plus a minimum 3 years of related work experience.

  • Licensure in either Mental Health Counseling or Social Work or currently has a limited permit for licensure in Mental Health Counseling

  • Job-related experience in student services and higher education preferred.

  • Preference will be given to candidates who have a demonstrated recent record of leadership and project management.

  • Strong ability to collaborate with others and work in teams.

  • Able to work flexible hours, including evenings, and weekends

  • Excellent organizational skills and attention to detail
