Overview Advanced Practice Nurse Practitioner provides expert clinical care to patients. Follows Collaborative Practice Agreement and Medical Staff credentialing. Adheres to Mercy Hospital/department policies and procedures and JCAHO/regulatory agency requirements. Demonstrates and promotes service excellence at all times. Conform to rules, time frames of regulatory bodies and medical staff by-laws. Position Overview: The Behavioral Health Advanced Practice Provider (APP) plays a vital role in providing comprehensive mental health care to patients in an outpatient clinic setting. This role includes conducting psychiatric evaluations, developing and implementing treatment plans, and collaborating with a multidisciplinary team to deliver high-quality, patient-centered care. Key Responsibilities: Conduct thorough psychiatric evaluations, including patient history, mental status examinations, and risk assessments. Develop individualized treatment plans, including pharmacological and non-pharmacological interventions, based on evidence-based practices. Prescribe and manage psychotropic medications, monitoring for efficacy and side effects. Provide psychoeducation to patients and families regarding mental health conditions, treatment options, and self-care strategies. Collaborate with psychiatrists, therapists, case managers, and other healthcare professionals to coordinate care. Maintain accurate and timely documentation in the electronic medical record (EMR) to ensure continuity of care. Participate in interdisciplinary team meetings, case reviews, and quality improvement initiatives. Provide crisis intervention and management as needed. Stay updated on the latest advancements in behavioral health and participate in continuing education activities. Qualifications: Master’s degree from an accredited Nurse Practitioner or Physician Assistant program. Current and unrestricted licensure as a Nurse Practitioner (NP) or Physician Assistant (PA) in NY. National certification as a Psychiatric-Mental Health Nurse Practitioner (PMHNP) is required. BLS/CPR certification is required; additional certifications (e.g., ACLS) are a plus. Experience in behavioral health or psychiatry preferred. Strong clinical skills in psychiatric assessment, diagnosis, and treatment. Excellent communication, organizational, and interpersonal skills. Proficiency with electronic medical records (EMR) and telehealth platforms. Key Competencies: Empathy and compassion for individuals with mental health conditions.
