Job Description


Drive design wins to revenue at selected customer projects, mainly for power conversion applications and primarily in Germany, by providing in-depth engineering support and creating demos to end customer requirements focusing on High Voltage Analog, but also on digital Power Conversion products, Support on selected projects in Europe that require specific skills in High Voltage and Lighting as well as in Power Discretes and Power Modules.

Based At

One of the sales offices in Germany. Possibly Haan or Garching.


Local target accounts in European North Central Europe region. Contributes to the European Power Conversion function group and Analog foundation group in his/her domain of expertise.

Main Functions

  1. To help win selected customer projects by providing in-depth engineering support and assisting customers with hardware development, code development and code conversion.

  2. Visit customers either with Sales Personnel, Distributors or alone to ensure that customers select the best solutions based on Microchip products, and to take responsibility for making sure that their system works successfully

  3. Adopt, lead and comprehensively utilize all elements of Microchip’s Sales Operating System to create and secure design-wins

  4. Adapt existing reference designs to address specific customer needs

  5. Participate in funnel audits and present design reviews

  6. Deliver/facilitate customer and distribution FAE technical training classes in collaboration with the Regional Training Centre organization

  7. Willingness to travel to the USA and other countries in Europe to receive training or to support other regions as needed

  8. Proactively train other field application engineers on specialist technology area

  9. Support other embedded solutions engineers in winning designs in their specialist technology area

  10. Technical coordinator and project manager for key Total System Solutions (TSS’s)

  11. Regularly develop hardware and software for customer designs

  12. Any other activities as required by Management

  13. Will be member of the Power Conversion Function Group

Job Requirements

Technical Skills

  1. BSc or BEng in Electronic Engineering or equivalent

  2. Experience in designing embedded systems

  3. 5 years minimum design experience with analog circuit design and / or technical support

  4. Must have experience with high voltage power electronics, microcontrollers, analog circuit design and analog related issues. Must be familiar with assembly and embedded C language for embedded applications.

  5. Accomplished presentation and training skills

  6. Thorough understanding and adoption of all Microchip Sales Operating system elements

  7. Experience in Power Conversion, High Voltage electronics and micro-controllers is mandatory.

Organizational skills

  1. Works effectively in a team with Account Managers and other application engineers to develop and execute successful sales strategies

  2. Works effectively with other regions and applications teams of Business Units

  3. Establishes trust and credibility with customers and regional colleagues in embedded design and their specialist area

  4. Uses specialist area knowledge to create new design wins and promote and improve the technology

  5. Self-starting learner – proactively keeps up to date with new technologies and products

  6. Documents work clearly, accurately and fully

  7. Creates innovative solutions to solve customers’ problems

  8. Must have excellent written and verbal skills in German and English.
