Minimum Qualifications:

Bachelor’s degree in basic science or equivalent with at least 3 years of research experience.

Job Description :

Supervises the laboratory and provides the operational management, technical support, laboratory training, and mentorship related to research.

Job Duties:

  • Responsible for the ongoing supervision of the laboratory.

  • Assisting with expenditures and grant budget management

  • Assists in writing and editing documentation of experiments and in the preparation of the laboratory for these experiments.

  • Schedules all procedures to be performed and the experiments to be carried out.

  • Supervises the laboratory technicians in setting up and performing the experiments.

  • Assists in design and preparation of abstracts and posters.

  • Assists in writing, planning, and execution of preclinical and clinical research protocols.

  • Assists in the writing and editing of manuscripts to be published in major scientific journals, and in writing grants.

  • Assisting in hiring lab personnel

  • Identifies appropriate internal controls for the department and provides mechanisms to monitor and enforce compliance.

  • Responsible for data collection and proper storage, maintaining the laboratory equipment, and inventory, and for the quality of the ongoing studies.

  • Adheres to internal controls established by department.

Salary Range:

Commensurate with Experience

Working Environment/Location of Position:

  • UTMB Galveston.

  • Potential exposure to radiation and biohazards.

  • Requires completion of appropriate vaccinations and required medical surveillance.

  • May be required to work extended shifts, including weekends and holidays to accommodate completion of special projects.

  • Standard offices, laboratory, and animal facilities
