Job Summary:
An administrative associate position for the Center for Vector-Borne and Zoonotic Diseases is available at the University of Texas Medical Branch. The Center’s mission is to enable the best available intellectual and physical resources to be integrated and focused on understanding, mitigating and developing countermeasures against emerging and tropical infectious agents of major global importance. Targeted research areas will include: biology of disease-transmitting vectors (mosquitos, ticks, or mites); vector-pathogen-host interactions with emphasis on field ecology, pathogenesis, skin immunology, pathogen evolution, vector microbiome, and development of novel diagnostics. To coordinate and directly support the administrative and business management activities of the Center for Vector-Borne and Zoonotic Diseases.
Job Duties:
Provides assistance for planning, implementing activities and writing quarterly reports and yearly impact statements on program progress and accomplishments.
Maintains the current status for the budget and grants including income and expenditures
Plans and implements educational programs including seminars and symposia utilizing a variety of methods including mass media, newsletters, electronic technology and distance learning.
Coordinates visits among scientists at partner institutions (as applicable).
Supports the efforts of Center Director.
Assists in identifying funding sources to enhance and extend program opportunities.
Oversees and supervises all business and administrative activities relating to Center’s operations and budget.
Provides leadership for the program and promotes teamwork.
Serves as a liaison between institutional departments and national and international Center partners to assess Center needs and develop project plans and budgets
Coordinates personnel matters with the Human Resources Department and ensures compliance of the Center with current Human Resources policies, procedures, and practices.
Adheres to internal controls established for the Center.
Initiates implementation plans for new projects and services within the Center
Performs related duties as required.
Salary Range:
Actual salary commensurate with experience.
Work Schedule:
Monday through Friday, 8am to 5pm and as needed on occasion.
