Catalent Gene Therapy is looking to hire a Quality Control Scientist to support our growing team in Gaithersburg, MD

The Quality Control (QC) Scientist is responsible for routine QC testing on cleaning, in-process and release samples. The QC Scientist must demonstrate technical knowledge, be familiar with basic scientific/regulatory principles, possess initiative, and maintain a strong commitment to scientific excellence.

The Role

  • Perform routine testing such as RT-PCR, ddPCR, UV-Vis, SDS-PAGE, pH, osmolality, conductivity, HPLC, ELISA, Viral Plaque (High Sensitivity Plaque Assay, TCID50), Viral Titer Determination (Rapid Titer), routine maintenance of adherent and suspension cell cultures

  • Responsible for GMP testing for small-scale for Phase I/II clinical trials

  • Generate testing records and report results.

  • Provide instrumentation care, maintenance, troubleshooting, and data interpretation.

  • Work under general supervision to meet project goals.

  • Work closely with Manufacturing and Quality Assurance staff to resolve quality issues with regard to the facility and products manufactured.

  • Document writing (laboratory investigations, out of specifications, deviations, CAPAs), data interpretation/presentation, statistical analysis, and trending.

  • Work closely with Process Development team to support method transfer activities as well as associated validation activities

The Candidate

  • BS with 4+ Years of Experience in a QC Setting (will consider reduced levels of experience with increased levels of education)

  • Experience with protein chemistry, cell and molecular biology assays (HPLC, ELiSA, qPCR, and/or ddPCR)

  • Experience within the biologic, pharmaceutical, or medical device industry performing direct hands-on work in a Quality Assurance/QC function with a strong familiarity of general GMP practices.

  • Experience writing SOPs preferred
