ManTech Network Engineering Technician in Gaithersburg, Maryland

ManTech is seeking a dynamic individual to build, configure and integrate RF and IP-based video distribution systems for ultimate installation on U.S. Navy ships. We have an immediate opening in Gaithersburg, MD, for a Network Engineering Technician to assist in the building, configuration, and life cycle support of Broadcast, Cable TV and Surveillance Camera Systems for U.S. Navy ships.

Job Summary:

This is an ideal opportunity for a Junior to Mid-level task oriented Technician who truly enjoys hands-on "racking & stacking" challenges. The successful candidate will demonstrate the ability to work independently and in a team environment, quickly diagnose and resolve problems, be proficient at fabricating and terminating various cable types, and a good understanding of broadcast fundamentals and signal flows for video, audio and IP data. The successful candidate will also demonstrate the desire to continue learning new technologies through independent study and taking advantage of ManTech-provided education benefits.

Responsibilities include but are not limited to:

  • Build, integrate, install, and upgrade broadcast, IPTV, and surveillance camera systems that provide entertainment, training, and security for United States Navy, Coast Guard, and Military Sealift Command ships

  • Interpret and understand system and equipment drawings and cable run sheets

  • Integrate broadcast, cable, and IPTV equipment in racks

  • Fabricate, terminate, and run audio cable inside equipment racks

  • Fabricate, terminate, and run coax cable with BNC, F, and RCA connectors inside equipment racks

  • Fabricate, terminate, and run multi-pin cables inside equipment racks

  • Update computers, cameras, and other hardware/software associated with systems in the test center

  • conduct system test & troubleshooting in our test facility

  • Develop and update documentation for use by Field Technicians to maintain shipboard systems

  • Strictly adhere to configuration management principles in building and maintaining systems, develop as-built drawings and documentation when changes are made

  • Potential for travel to assist with installations on ships

Minimum Qualifications:

  • A minimum of a High School Diploma or GED and three (3) years experience with integration and maintenance of broadcast or cable television systems, IPTV systems, Home automation and security, VTC, or similar systems.

  • Experience fabricating, troubleshooting, and repairing audio, video, network cabled systems

  • Experience using desktop and laptop computers for maintenance tracking and documentation development

  • Experience performing basic IP network and other configurations for PCs, cameras, and other host devices

Preferred Qualifications:

  • Experience working in Navy ships in shipyard environments is a definite plus.

  • Familiarity with IP-based television and/or camera systems;

  • Knowledge of video surveillance systems;

  • Knowledge of RF television distribution systems using coaxial and fiber optic cabling;

Clearance Requirements:

  • US Citizenship required

  • A US Secret Clearance; Interim Secret to start on program acceptable

Physical Requirements

  • Sedentary Work, lift and carry 50#

  • Extensive time in stationary position

  • Be able to move around the office

  • Operate office equipment

  • Be able to communicate professionally with ManTech employees and ManTech clients

  • Must be able to observe and report

  • The person in this position frequently communicates with co-workers, management and customers, which may involve delivering presentations.
