A high school diploma or its equivalent and one (1) year of experience in laboratory work.
College or vocational/technical training can substitute at the rate of 30 semester, 45 quarter or 720 classroom hours for the required experience provided such education includes three courses in the physical and/or natural sciences. (Note: If education is being used to qualify for this position, you must provide a copy of your transcript (official or unofficial) as supporting documentation showing the required coursework.)
Possession of a valid driver license.

This position is part-time and will work up to 20 hours per week.
Assist in routine plant virology diagnostic work such Extraction of RNA/DNA, cDNA synthesis, PCR and Gel-electrophoresis. Documentation of samples including photographing. Assist in maintaining indicator plants in green houses, watering of plants, etc.
KNOWLEDGE, SKILLS AND ABILITIES:
Knowledge of basic molecular biology knowledge.
Skilled with molecular skills in extraction of RNA/DNA, PCR and gel-electrophoresis.
Skilled in basic computer skills.
Ability to lift and move up to 35 lbs.
Ability to work prolonged periods in hot, cold, wet environments, to include field work.
Ability to walk on uneven ground and in inclement weather.
