Job Description:

Overall

  • Work with project managers from project conception through design, construction, commissioning validation, and post-construction to ensure the University receives a quality end-product (construction project) which operates effectively, efficiently, and is maintainable.

  • Attend all planning and design meetings relating to Facilities Services responsibilities.

  • Schedules Preconstruction meetings for UF, MP, FS, UAA and UTL projects and attend.

  • Maintain oneself as one of the primary decision makers for Facilities Services in regards to project related questions.

  • Interface with architects, engineers, and project managers from the program phase to the end of warranty phase.

  • Provide lead interface between the UF Planning, Design, and Construction and all the PPD functions.

  • Coordinate with other departments within Facilities Services to enable the Operations Engineering Department to serve as in-house consultants in problem-solving activities.

  • Provides analytics on projects to Assistant Director

  • Monitors Project tracker and EH&S platform for project creation.

  • Administrative support of Inspectors - Integrate construction processes across platforms

Plan review / standards

  • Direct Facilities Services project review process for all capital and deferred maintenance projects through all stages of design and ensure all Facilities Services review comments are provided to the appropriate Project Manager in a timely manner.

  • Provide oversight for plan reviews and specifications for accuracy, completeness of data, and compliance with existing codes, standards, and regulatory requirements. Funnels projects to stakeholders based on project scope.

  • Ensure the University of Florida Design & Construction Standards remain sufficiently comprehensive to ensure the University with a quality end product.

  • Solicit and gather continuous updates from the Facilities Services staff to best fit the needs of the University. Attend Construction Standards meetings.

Review the standards with Facilities Services shop supervisors to ensure understanding of the standards.

Inspections

  • Monitoring of incoming inspection requests.

  • Compare incoming inspections requests to the scope of work of the project to ensure all aspects of the projects SOW are inspected.

Cx / Training

  • Coordinate all project training between Facilities Services Shops and contractor and/or vendor.

  • Inform the shops of the time frames that the project commissioning will be performed and coordinate with the respective shops for their participation.

Documentation / closeout /warranty

  • Ensure projects are properly closed out from both a construction and administrative perspective and then recommend approval for substantial completion.

  • Track, schedule and document project warranties so that issues are identified prior to the end of the warranty period.

  • Responsible for receiving all close-out documentation from each project before signing off on the final acceptance of the finished project. Assists with documentation help

  • Oversee archival of all construction documents.

Collects close-out documents

  • Funnels O&M to AiM. Controls and submits asset information from projects to AiM

  • Assists with documentation help

  • Monitors submittals in the form of shop drawings, RFIs, FO, COP and CO’s, Request for SC, request for Certificate of Occupancy, request for final completion and provides to appropriate stakeholders

  • Transfers completed projects to Facility Assessment Manager

  • Develop reports, handle special projects, and perform other duties (as assigned).

NORMAL WORK SCHEDULE

7:00 am - 4:00 pm, M-F Total hours per week: 40

Position is considered as Essential Personnel as defined by UF Policy.

A criminal background will be conducted.

Drives a state vehicle that requires a valid driver license.

Expected Salary:

$52,500 - $55,000 Annually based on experience

Minimum Requirements:

Bachelor's degree in an appropriate area and two years of relevant experience; or an equivalent combination of education and experience.

Preferred Qualifications:

• Bachelor’s degree in Engineering

• Experience in Autodesk BIM360 / Construction Cloud, AutoCAD, Revit, PeopleSoft Management, Microsoft Office software.

• Construction experience in design reviews and construction inspections.

• Appropriate college coursework or vocational/technical training may substitute at an equivalent rate for required experience.
