Job Description:

The UF Health Cancer Center is the 72nd NCI designated cancer center and the only one at a public university in the State of Florida. As a matrix cancer center, we span 11 of the University of Florida's 16 colleges, pulling together a world-class, multi-disciplinary membership of over 330 faculty and 150 staff to address the challenges of the cancer burden faced by the population we serve as we work together to find a cure.

As an Operations Specialist at the UF Health Cancer Center (UFHCC), you will be responsible for providing direct oversight and management to the Cancer & Genetics Research Complex (CGRC) loading dock as well as supporting the general operations of the CGRC building as a liaison to external vendors. Demonstrated communication and leadership skills are necessary for success in this role.

In your new role you will be responsible for the following:

  • Oversees day-to-day operations in the unit, assisting the Manager with workload and performance management and providing daily supervision to the team as needed;

  • Working closely with UFHCC, UFGI, and ICBR administration, plans major facilities projects and maintenance, coordinating bids, managing schedules, and communicating with building occupants and leadership, as appropriate

  • Conducts annual inventory and asset management, coordinating with UFHCC, UFGI, and ICBR administration and institutional partners to resolve discrepancies as necessary;

  • Coordinates the delivery, set up, and/or shipment of large equipment, working with building occupants and the Facilities Operations Assistant to move existing items, unpack, and dispose of packing materials

This is an experienced level position, ideal for candidates with three to five years of experience in facilities operations. A complete job description will be provided to candidates selected for interview.

Expected Salary:

$50,000 - $57,500

Minimum Requirements:

Master's degree in an appropriate area of specialization; or a bachelor's degree in an appropriate area of specialization and two years of appropriate experience; or an equivalent combination of education and experience.

Preferred Qualifications:

Knowledge/Experience:

  • Six to eight years’ experience in facilities operations, preferably at the University of Florida and/or in a complex research center.

  • Experience overseeing and managing building and loading dock operations.

  • Expert knowledge of UF operations and facilities management policies/procedures will be necessary to succeed in this role long-term.

  • Highly resourceful team-player, with the ability to also be effective independently, maintain appropriate discretion, and utilize effective writing and organizational skills.

  • Demonstrated forward-thinking mentality with the ability to achieve high performance goals and meet deadlines in a fast-paced environment.

  • Proven sense of professional ethics and conduct, understanding and effectively using and applying Emotional Intelligence strategies and skills.

Skills/Abilities:

  • Ability to successfully work independently, interact professionally, and utilize effective writing and organizational skills.

  • Demonstrated ability to anticipate program issues and to respond appropriately in a timely manner.

  • Excellent oral and written communications skills.

  • Demonstrated success and experience in project management, as well as the ability to lead focus groups and committees through project completion.

  • Proficient time management skills and demonstrated ability to prioritize, manage multiple projects, anticipate and identify conflicts, and meet deadlines with excellent attention to detail.

  • Ability to collaborate with internal and external stakeholders across functions to optimize performance and drive projects to completion.

  • Proficiency with Microsoft Office
