Job Description:

The College of Medicine at the University of Florida welcomes candidates to apply for an Administrative Fellowship position. This will be a two-year, full-time paid position classified as a Manager of Health Care Administration that provides high impact and practical learning experience for future healthcare executives, with opportunities to gain an in-depth understanding of healthcare operations in an academic medical center environment. This position is expected to start inJune 2025. Upcoming spring master's program graduates are welcome to apply!

Fellows take part in hands-on, operationally, and financially focused projects, and participate in various leadership activities that nurture professional growth. Fellows are exposed to high-level strategic planning and other health system functions, including finance, budgeting, operations, facilities management, data analysis, information technology, marketing, and human resources. The Administrative Fellow reports to the Assistant Director of Operations, while the College of Medicine Chief Operating Officer and Director of Finance serve jointly as Fellowship Preceptors. With collaboration and input from the Fellow, this cohort will develop plans for the duration of the fellowship, as well as for the Fellow’s career opportunities. The Fellow will have an opportunity to observe system-level meetings and conferences throughout the Fellowship. There will have ample opportunities to develop and enhance their leadership skills in personnel and project management. They will be expected to develop robust technical skills by working on analyses of clinical, financial, workforce and other data. Additionally, fellows will take on a role in leading teams to accomplish tasks and projects. Their contribution will be essential in implementing novel solutions and modernizing the Dean’s Office F&A infrastructure.

Responsibilities include:

Project Management:Facilitates, leads, and manages cross-functional, complex projects as assigned by the senior management team. Contributes to specific project work by researching and providing information, and appropriately utilizing internal and external resources. Applies practical applications of academic information learned in graduate studies.

Internship Supervision:Responsible for assigning tasks and projects to interns based on needs and priorities. Provides feedback on intern performance when needed. Acts as a liaison between the internship coordinator and preceptor. May lead and/or support intern recruitment. Mentors interns and supports their professional development.

Reporting and Data Management:Prepares and distributes reports with financial and non-financial impacts on projects or business operations. Gains technical skills in leveraging data for data-driven decision making.

Professional Development:Plans and/or attends management team, operations, and other meetings necessary to understand current UF COM initiatives, executive-level decision-making, and strategic planning. Under the mentorship and guidance of preceptors and other executive leaders, explores areas of personal interest. Provides and receives feedback in a thorough, constructive, and professional manner.

Other Duties:Performs other duties as assigned. Serves as a department liaison with other agencies within and outside UF. Proactively manages communications with key stakeholders, staff, and department administrators in the College of Medicine as needed

Expected Salary:

$70,000

Minimum Requirements:

Bachelor's degree in an appropriate area and two years of relevant experience; or an equivalent combination of education and experience. [University classification requirements]

Preferred Qualifications:

For this fellowship opportunity, candidates are expected to have:

Master’s degree in Business Administration, Healthcare Administration, Public Health, Public Administration, Nursing Administration, or an equivalent degree program. Applicants must have earned their degree prior to starting the program, except for programs that require a Residency or Fellowship. For those with programs requiring Residency or Fellowship, coursework must be completed prior to the start of the fellowship.

Prior work experience in healthcare, including internships, and demonstration of leadership through community involvement and professional associations is preferred.
