About the Role

We’re looking for a Senior User Experience Researcher to join Splunk’s Research & Insights team!

As a Senior User Experience Researcher, your ability to identify, prioritize, and complete high-impact research will help cross-functional teams make well-informed decisions to define the future of Splunk products. The research will come in the form of multi-methods, including but not limited to foundational, generative, and evaluative research while combining that with quantitative data sets (if applicable). You are recognized and trusted as the person who understands the constraints of the cross-functional team, and adapts the research as needed to achieve the research goals. With your involvement, your partners will integrate your research into the product roadmap.

You have a clear perspective about what research is needed for the cross-functional team, and persevere with that perspective as you work with your partners to create consensus and alignment. Through your work and collaborative process, you improve non-user researchers’ understanding and engagement of user needs and how to best address those needs. We’re looking for thinkers and innovators who are willing to challenge the status quo and are motivated by developing creative solutions to complex problems.

What you’ll do:

  • Drive user-centered principles within a cross-functional team.

  • Foster and grow user research and a data-driven product experience culture.

  • Identify, prioritize, design and conduct user research, and communicate insights to partners and team members with clear recommendations for product direction and strategy and at various stages of the product development lifecycle

  • Analyze existing data, existing designs and conduct stakeholder research to generate hypotheses and plans for high-impact research.

  • Create innovative and actionable deliverables and communication strategies in the form of engaging reports, jobs-to-be-done-frameworks, journey maps, or other materials as needed by the project team and communication and socialization strategies.

  • Lead change by continually communicating actionable insights to partners in the company at a range of levels.

  • Advance the research and insights practice through modeling and contribution by partnering with Research Operations to drive standard methodologies and processes to the organization and coaching more junior researchers

What you’ll bring:

  • 5+ years’ experience crafting applied mixed method, qualitative and quantitative user research.

  • Undergraduate degree in the field of HCI, Human Factors, Usability Engineering or a related field or equivalent applied experience

  • Demonstrable experience improving the product quality, direction and strategy with measurable results

  • Extensive experience identifying research needs, transforming ambiguous partner problems into research plans, planning and executing different types of research and analysis methods

  • Ability to operate independently with a strong sense of ownership and accountability, ability to unblock most challenges independently

  • Excellent organization skills and the ability to manage multiple high-profile projects or a more complex research program in a dynamic organization

  • Outstanding written and verbal communication skills and ability to create high impact presentations

  • Demonstrated success with effective interpersonal, negotiation and collaboration skills building partnerships with design, product management, engineering and other teams

  • Demonstrated ability to scale customer-centric behaviors in partner organizations

  • Demonstrated success scaling best research practices and helping lead a community of practice with thought leadership, new process and mentoring to improve research quality

  • Required: demonstrated success conducting research for a Jobs-to-Be-Done Framework, creating the framework and enabling partners with education and adoption
