Raytheon is seeking a Principal Systems Security Engineer-P4 to join our elite Systems Security Engineering (SSE) team for the Systems Design Directorate in developing solutions to protect the Warfighter’s technology advantage. Systems Security Engineering creates holistic security solutions leveraging Anti-Tamper (AT), Software Assurance, and Supply Chain Risk Management to support Program Protection Implementation on embedded weapons systems. Join our highly visible team and perform technically challenging assignments, which will directly contribute to protecting our nation and our Warfighters. This is an onsite position at Raytheon in Fullerton, CA.

What You Will Do As a Principal Systems Security Engineer, your day-to-day activities may include:

  • Carrying out product owner duties such as defining tasks and scope and overseeing personnel, budget, and schedule.

  • Participating and leading technical meetings with team members and other program personnel and representing the organization in functional area matters.

  • Supporting the development of cybersecurity requirements, design and architecture artifacts, plans, and policies.

  • Supporting proposal teams and technical review teams.

  • Defining security development and test efforts implementation of security controls of networking devices, databases, operating systems, and hardware and software component.

  • Understanding and integrating cybersecurity development activities.

  • Supporting the development of Risk Management Framework (RMF) documents and controls validation testing for Authority to Operate (ATO) accreditations.

  • Performing analysis on cybersecurity collected data and test results and interpreting their applicability to our systems.

  • Conducting cybersecurity audits to ensure appropriate implementation and compliance of the security posture.

  • Conducting technical and nontechnical trade studies.

  • Understanding, and compliance with, DoD technology release and export licensing policies.

    Qualifications You Must Have

  • Typically requires a Bachelor's degree in Science, Technology, Engineering or Mathematics (STEM) and a minimum of 8 years of prior relevant experience

  • Active and transferable U.S. government issued Secret security clearance is required prior to start date. U.S. citizenship is required, as only U.S. citizens are eligible for a security clearance

  • Experience with NIST RMF, as described in NIST Special Publication 800-37

  • Experience with System Requirements definition and analysis, System Test and Analysis, Systems Engineering Studies and Systems Security Engineering process development and deployment

  • Experience with Systems Engineering requirements, specifications, and experience implementing DoD and Federal IA Certification and Accreditation Processes, IA controls and developing and maintaining associated certification and accreditation documentation

    Qualifications We Prefer

  • DoD 8570.01 IA certifications such as Security+ or CISSP

  • Information Assurance (IA) vulnerability testing and related network and system test tools (e.g., Nessus, Security Technical Implementation Guides (STIGs), Retina, Nmap)

  • Security systems engineering involving various computer hardware and software S/W operating system and application solutions in both a stand-alone and in LAN/WAN configurations

  • Linux Bash scripting and Python scripting experience

  • Security features and/or vulnerability analysis of various operating systems as defined by Intelligence agencies

  • Experience working on U.S. Government contract proposals as an Information Assurance Engineer subject matter expert

  • Experience contributing in a team environment for the purpose of developing creative solutions to technical problems

  • The ability to obtain and maintain additional program access as required

  • Technical leadership experience

The salary range for this role is 105,000 USD - 221,000 USD. The salary range provided is a good faith estimate representative of all experience levels. RTX considers several factors when extending an offer, including but not limited to, the role, function and associated responsibilities, a candidate’s work experience, location, education/training, and key skills.

Payments under these annual programs are not guaranteed and are dependent upon a variety of factors including, but not limited to, individual performance, business unit performance, and/or the company’s performance.

This role is a U.S.-based role. If the successful candidate resides in a U.S. territory, the appropriate pay structure and benefits will apply.
