Job Description:


  • To oversee the operational functions the Distribution Center

  • To develop, implement, and leverage all technology initiatives related to the Distribution Centers and Branch Warehouses to include, but not limited to the Warehouse Management System and the various components of Fleet and Delivery.

  • Continuous review, evaluation, and audit of operational procedures and performance KPIs with the purpose of identifying areas for improvement or developing potential cost saving projects.

  • Overall responsibility of maintaining the accuracy and integrity of the Distribution Centers’ inventory in compliance with Wolseley PLC and ACE Standards. This would include ownership of the biannual beefed up cycle count inventories in the Distribution Centers, all cycle counting policies and procedures, and supporting reporting capabilities.

  • Direct ownership and responsibility of all Standard Operating Procedure Manuals and any changes in operating procedures related to the Distribution Centers.

  • Establish and maintain open lines of communication with all corporate associates, branch personnel and distribution associates. Communicate, in a timely manner, steps taken to correct problems or ongoing issues.

  • Establish Departmental Budget on an annual basis and ensure adherence to established budget.

  • Manage and/or supervise other projects as directed by the RVP of Distribution Services such as opening of new Distribution Centers.

  • Responsible for all system authorizations within the DIST account.

  • Responsible for conducting presentations as needed by Corporate Training related to the roles and responsibilities of Distribution Services.


  • Five to seven years supervisory experience in the warehouse/distribution.

  • Excellent understanding of Ferguson’s culture.

  • Thorough understanding of the Standard Operating Procedures manual.

  • Thorough understanding of WMS and Fleet and Delivery technology systems (How one area affects others).

  • Must possess good oral and written communication skills, good math skills and the ability to work independently.

  • Must have good people skills and team oriented, in conjunction with a positive attitude and strong leadership skills.

  • Good problem solving and project management skills.

  • Ability to manage multiple tasks at once.
