Job Description:

Duties/Responsibilities

  • Calculate and post cash, credit, and check payments appropriately for all patients.

  • Assisting patients/families to social workers, and/or Financial Counselors to appropriate schedules/locations.

  • Accurately process Crayon Care applications based on hospital charity policy and send appropriate correspondence letters to patients’ families.

  • Ensure that all WQ's, FS emails, Referral WQ’s and Voicemail are completed in a timely manner.

  • Independently managing all aspects of the front desk; greeting and assisting patients, families, staff, and visitors in the department.

  • Appropriately document information in the medical record consistent with departmental standards.

  • Serves as the liaison between patient family and insurance verification team to ensure that prior authorizations are obtained based on insurance plan contracts and guidelines.

  • Accurately calculate estimates and patients benefits for radiology procedures.

  • Assist with coordination of agency interpreters including requesting interpreters for non Spanish language speakers, checking in/out agency interpreters at FS desk, and documenting interpreter involvement in patient chart.

  • Assist with coordination of DME loan program including reminder phone calls to return DME, logging returns, and sending returns to sterile processing.

  • Accurately manage referral WQ and communicate with PCP office to ensure insurance referral is obtained in a timely manner.

  • Supports hospital and departmental initiatives, change efforts, and improvement goals.

  • Abides by organizational and HIPAA guidelines, privacy practices, patient confidentiality, and patients’ rights, guides in this area.

  • Engages in strong communication, acts as team player in supporting mission and vision of organization, and abides by organization core values. ​

  • Cross-train with other positions in Family Services to provide coverage and understand overall functions of department.

  • Additional duties as assigned

    Required Skills/Abilities

  • High School or equivalent required

  • Epic, registration, scheduling, and prior authorization experience is preferred.

  • Two years of college or secretarial school, or equivalent work experience, or five years’ experience of increasing responsibility for staff support and/or administrative assistant experience preferred.

  • Microsoft Office skills/experience preferred.
