The Corporate Controller is a key financial leader for the organization, operating daily as the company’s top managerial and financial accountant. The position holds accountability for all financial accounting-related activities, reporting, treasury, taxes, data processing, while driving improvement and enhancing enterprise value across PURE. One of the primary objectives is to provide an accurate account of the Company’s financial position at a specific point in time and/or operating performance over a particular period.
The Corporate Controller works under the general supervision of, and reports to, Founder & Chairman, while directly supervising the Accounting department. He/she is accountable for establishing and implementing the Company’s internal control policies and will apply Generally Accepted Accounting Principles (GAAP). The position includes analytical work and thorough review of financial records relying on experience and judgement; to gather as assess qualitative and quantitative data affecting financial performance. The position relies on one’s experience and judgement to plan and accomplish goals and operate with a wide degree of latitude and creativity.
Essential Duties and Responsibilities:
Ensure the formulation, implementation, and application of accounting policies and procedures in order to develop value in supporting the Company’s strategies;
Direct and/or execute company-wide financial reporting, accounting, data processing, compliance activities, and inventory management.
Maintain and utilize management reporting systems to meet all requirements for financial statements and business activity reports for US and International markets;
Provide timely and accurate financial statements, including consolidations, general ledger roll-forwards and analysis.
Provide direction and assistance to other organizational units regarding accounting policies and efficient control and utilization of financial resources;
Enable the processing of transactions and closing the books in the most effective manner;
Handle technical accounting issues that arise from changes in the business, new contracts and acquisition activities;
Monitor financial details such as cash flow and reserve levels, evaluate needs for procurement of funds and investment of surpluses, and make appropriate recommendations;
Provide supporting schedules and information for annual and quarterly tax provisions, annual audit, and annual tax returns;
Conduct and/or coordinate the Company’s financial audit process to ensure compliance with state, federal and international statutes;
Create and develop multi location internal controls and reporting capabilities to insure accurate tracking of inventory;
Oversee and manage weekly inventory and budgeting process;
Pricing, Corporate Development & Special Projects
Leadership of special projects which enable effective management decision making or scenario planning, business valuation, capital budgeting, or restructuring;
Challenging and standardizing the methodology for revenue and direct cost categorization by product / revenue type across the business and/or new acquisitions;
Establishing and implementing cash flow by product analysis across the group;
Leadership of cost and operational benchmarking projects;
Presentation of findings and recommendations to the leadership team;
Protect the organization's value by keeping information confidential;
Analyzes information and options for special projects on an ad hoc basis;
Lead and manage Accounting staff; maintaining work systems, procedures, and policies which enable and encourage the optimum performance of the team.
Requirements:
In depth knowledge of GAAP, audit practices, economic principles, and financial regulations; comprehension of IFRS;
Effective judgment to be applied throughout the accounting and financial reporting process;
Complex problem solving and analytical skills, displaying an ability to gather, relate and compare data, and ensure data is reliable, accurate and complete;
Detail orientation to ensure related tasks are completed timely and accurately;
Highly organized, capable of maintaining a systematic process for handling and recording all inventory, financial data, files and analysis;
Essential characteristic of integrity, act according to the highest ethical standards pertaining to accounting controls and policies, able to maintain strict confidence as needed;
Successfully managed multiple team members in a highly collaborative, results oriented manner. Able to function in a cross functional approach with other teams with a corporate setting
Strong business acumen and knowledge of supervisory and management techniques;
Proficient in the use of accounting and ERP software such as, Microsoft Office and Excel;
Must have experience in Microsoft Great Plains Dynamics.
Must have experience in Inventory;
Must have experience in International subsidiaries and consolidations.
Required Experience:
Education and Experience:
Bachelor’s degree in Accounting,
Certified Public Accountant / CPA certification, required;
10+ years of corporate experience including accounting, financial reporting, inventory controls, audit, tax and/or treasury;
Track record of career progression into positions with increasing responsibility and management of staff / resources.
