FM Account Engineer - Fire & Natural Hazards in FRISCO, Texas

Forest Products Operations has an exciting career opportunity in Account Engineering!

Reporting to the Group Manager Account Engineering - Forest Products, the successful applicant will evaluate and assess the nature, probability, and magnitude of potential losses and communicate this to a client/prospect and the account team. The Account Engineer’s role is to prioritize exposures, help the client understand hazards and risk to their business and agree to mutual mitigation strategies. Through teamwork with FM field engineering, underwriting, claims and new business development, the Account Engineer must foster long-term customer relationships and sustainable risk improvement plans that meet both client and FM needs.

The account engineer supports FM’s KRA’s by providing honest and accurate risk assessment and driving risk improvement so our clients can minimize losses and FM can make sound risk selection (underwriting) decisions to promote long-term profitability. The account engineer will be the "trusted advisor" to each of their clients for all matters related to property loss prevention engineering.

The account engineer coordinates and manages the global delivery of FM engineering products and services to our clients and is an integral member of the client service team. This individual develops a deep level of understanding about the client’s business, primarily through developing positive relationships at the highest levels of the client’s organization. The account engineer uses this understanding to help the client develop a tailored strategy to handle property risks in a way that supports the client’s business objectives, staying true to FM’s mutual ownership and governance.

  • Accurately assess risk and clearly communicate conclusions and opinion on risk quality.

  • Based on this risk assessment, develop mutual, tailored, long-term and short-term risk improvement goals for FM and clients.

  • Develop and implement a plan (jointly with FM team members, the insured, and broker partners) to reach those goals by using our wide range of products / resources and through strong client partnerships.

Key responsibilities which support these functions are:

  • Acquire tangible risk improvement results (physical and human element improvements) in support of corporate objectives.

  • Conduct in-depth MFL analysis for specified locations including review of interdependencies, make-up potential, and values validation.

  • Conduct in-depth risk assessment of key equipment, such as BLRB’s, turbines, generators and digesters.

  • Understand and implement the Client Service Process and develop and maintain positive relationships with corporate contacts.

  • Ensure proper level and scope of field engineering servicing for your clients.

  • Support the risk report process by helping ensure clients receive accurate and timely risk reports.

  • Support the new business process by managing time and identifying key resources to accurately assess the risk in a shortened timeframe.

Education

Bachelor’s degree in engineering or applied science, or equivalent.

Experience

A minimum of 4 years of experience in engineering within the Pulp & Paper industry.

Experience in consulting engineering, fire protection, natural hazards or insurance would be an asset.

Skills and competencies

  • The ability to review and understand account side quantities of information, draw clear conclusions, and clearly articulate those conclusions (both written and orally) is critical to success in this role.

  • Strong technical knowledge (Operating Standards and in-field experience) with an ability to spot key issues for facility hazards, natural hazards, and equipment hazards.

  • Decision-making skills: possess ability to choose trade-offs and prioritize between competing, critical needs in developing strategies.

  • Effective time management skills to juggle client requests and internal needs.

  • Must balance attention to detail with focus on key objectives.

  • Must be team-oriented to promote collaboration with the client service team.

  • Problem-solving skills for effective negotiation and for finding unique solutions to overcome obstacles.

  • Proficiency in computer skills.

  • The candidate will need to be willing to travel. Travel will vary depending on the specific accounts and clients and is estimated at 25–35% of the time.

We are considering Mid and Senior Level candidates for this role. The hiring range is $92,800 - $151,600. These ranges are representative of the hiring salary for the role. The final salary offer will vary based on geographic location, individual education, skills, and experience. Varying levels of experience and qualifications will be considered. Relocation available.
