Adecco Staffing is searching for a Research and Development (R&D) Scientist for a local manufacturer in Fresno, CA. Come join our team today! Apply online at www.Adeccousa.com. This position starts at $70k-100K annually, with the opportunity to discuss depending on experience.

Responsibilities:

  • Support new product development and/or processes based on consumer feedback

  • Generating new product ideas and recipes

  • Research products, markets, and technology to develop new product concepts

  • In partnership with the marketing & sales team, develop and test the feasibility of new product concepts

  • Design a product structure from a concept sourcing new ingredients and collecting all necessary documents Develop samples/prototypes of new products and evaluate product design and integrity

  • Ensure quality and safety of food products, finding substitutes for harmful ingredients

  • Reviewing and approving nutritional data, writing product specifications, and enforcing USDA labeling regulations Developing specifications for all raw materials, process controls, and finished goods

  • Create and update in-house product specification sheets and product specifications sheets for Customers Carry out administrative tasks and devise policies for government departments (FDA, USDA, etc.)

  • Prepare product costing based on raw materials and manufacturing costs to ensure profitable products

  • Work on packaging innovation and technology

  • Modify existing products and processes to create more marketable products

  • Maintain accurate records to ensure smooth start-up for new product production processes

  • Work with suppliers & sales team on quality issues and new product ideas

  • Maintain and follow industry regulations and customer requirements

  • Independently review changes in products, product specifications, and manufacturing processes to assess the regulatory implications of the change

  • Proactively attend conferences and generate product and packaging ideas

  • Manage R&D kitchen, equipment, ingredients, & schedule

  • Establish laboratory SOPs, testing methodologies, ingredient specifications, and prototyping procedures to ensure a safe and sanitized testing and R&D environment.

  • Assist in achieving industry-recognized certifications

  • Communicate with 3rd party or internal Quality Control labs while analyzing and organizing test results

Requirements:

  • Bachelor's or Master’s degree in food science, nutritional science, chemistry, material science, food engineering, and/or development-related area(s) of study.

  • Food formulation experience and understanding of food systems, ingredient interactions, and functionality required.

  • Knowledge of food science, food chemistry, food microbiology, and food processing and engineering.

  • Strong nutrition, scientific, and regulation background with a passion for the food, beverage, and nutrition industry.

  • Ability to work in a team environment, and open to collaboration, and other perspectives, and easy to work with.

  • Have excellent verbal and written communication skills.

Pay Details: $70,000.00 to $100,000.00 per year
