What you will do -

As a Senior Polymer Technician, you will perform general laboratory work including handling and processing polymer materials/chemicals, performing polymer mechanical testing, operating polymer processing and characterization equipment and generating/processing data.

  • Apply engineering statistics software (i.e., DOE) to characterize processes.

  • Act as a technical leader for new processes, materials, test methods and prototypes

  • Familiarity with standard chemical laboratory techniques

  • Comfortable using common chemistry lab equipment and glassware

  • Actively participate in project team meetings as requested. Coordinate and monitor project task execution and project progress against deliverables.

  • Excellent attention to detail and ability to keep precise laboratory records

  • Synthesize and characterize polymer formulations in a laboratory setting

  • Support formulation optimization for desired material performance

  • Maintain detailed records of experiments.

  • Ordering and stocking lab supplies, chemicals and other agents as necessary

  • Create preliminary engineering documentation following established procedures. Develop and/or verify specifications.

What you need-

  • Two-year Technical Degree (i.e., AA, Certificate) and/or equivalent experience required

  • Associate or Bachelors Degree in chemistry, biochemistry, bioengineering, chemical engineering, materials science, or a closely related field with 4+years (associate) or 2+ years (bachelor) working in a wet chemistry laboratory preferred

  • 2+ years technical work experience (4+ years preferred) with wet lab and polymer formulations.

  • Technical expertise or familiarity in the following: chemical synthesis, mechanical testing, biocompatibility testing, rheology, standard polymer characterization methods (GPC, NMR, DMA, FTIR, optical spectroscopy, etc.), drug elution studies etc.

  • Experience working with external vendors

  • Good analytical and problem

  • Experience with polymer chemistry preferred

  • Experience with hydrogel characterization techniques, such as rheology, is preferred

$35.51 - $49.13 per hour plus bonus eligible + benefits. Actual minimum and maximum may vary based on location. Individual pay is based on skills, experience, and other relevant factors.
