We are looking for a Senior Instrumentation Design Engineer to join our GEC team in Freeport, TX.

As a Senior Instrumentation Design Engineer, your role will involve taking the lead in all aspects of Instrumentation design for small to medium sized greenfield and brownfield capital and expense projects at BASF Freeport. This includes tasks such as scope development, cost estimating, specification, procurement, construction packages, quality assurance, and providing technical support during startup and commissioning. In addition, you will collaborate with a team of internal and external partners to ensure the successful completion of assigned projects.

As a Senior Instrumentation Design Engineer, you create chemistry by...

  • Leading the engineering efforts for Instrumentation manhour estimates, material take offs, and specification of flow/level/pressure/temperature and valve technologies, while providing guidance to I&E designers for expected deliverables in construction work packages.

  • Collaborating with a multi-discipline team, inclusive of project engineering, operations, maintenance, construction, procurement, project controls, instrumentation vendors, and external engineering partners.

  • Managing multiple projects with varying priorities, providing technical expertise during design, construction, and startup phases.

  • Engaging in project meetings to propose value-driven engineering solutions, contributing to standardization initiatives, and collaborating with technical committees and peer working groups to support continuous improvement efforts.

  • Demonstrating a commitment to maintaining a safe and productive workplace by ensuring compliance with all BASF policies, procedures, Technical Standards, Industry Standards, and applicable regulatory codes.

If you...

• Hold a bachelor's degree in Electrical or Chemical Engineering is preferred or a bachelor's degree in related engineering discipline.

• Possess 7+ years of experience in Instrumentation engineering within a chemical, petrochemical, or similar manufacturing environment.

• Demonstrate proficiency in collaborating with multidisciplinary teams and possess strong communication skills.

• Safety Instrumented Systems (SIS) is a plus.
