Your Opportunity

The Strategic Management Consultant will be part of the Strategic Advisory & Asset Transformation group supporting the execution of projects as part of the delivery team for several service lines including but not limited to: Strategic Implementation, Policy & Regulatory, Asset Analytics & Technology, and Asset Transformation to renewable energy, electrical infrastructure, and other capital and/or energy-intensive stakeholders. To achieve this the Strategic Management Consultant will work across markets including electrical utilities, Independent Power Producers, governmental/legislative, institutional, and industrial markets. The Strategic Management Consultant will be responsible for executing the delivery of transformational implementations, regulatory filing, cost of service applications, grid interconnection process support, analytics road-mapping and planning, technology implementations, asset data audits, strategic asset management plan development, and asset investment planning among other projects. Similarly, the Strategic Management Consultant will contribute to business development efforts (bid participation, proposal preparation, project estimating, client engagements, event participation), and participate in strategic development or execution of initiatives throughout the Strategic Advisory & Asset Transformation (Strategic Advisory) group and greater Stantec organization.

Your Key Responsibilities

Work alongside your Manager and members in the Strategic Advisory & Asset Transformation group to implement the strategic direction and impact across markets, including:

  • Continuous refinement, evolution and delivery of groups portfolio and value propositions

  • Drive consistency of the Strategic Advisory & Asset Transformation group’s high-value, premium client experience from initial bid through project closeout.

  • Contribute to the execution of the Strategic Advisory & Asset Transformation group’s business development strategy across sectors.

  • Contribute to the group’s business development execution by performing opportunity research, proposal development, and client presentation support.

  • Remain informed on relevant Stantec business lines ‘current state’ to identify opportunities for collaboration and expansion strategies.

  • Support the group’s expansion execution, including researching target Energy industry sectors, geographies, and key clients.

  • Support the execution of consulting programs and projects, including leading work elements, for the Strategic Advisory & Asset Transformation and other Stantec teams.

  • Support the development of project plans and schedules.

  • Support the execution of transformational implementations, regulatory filing, cost of service applications, grid interconnection process support, analytics road-mapping and planning, technology implementations, asset data audits, strategic asset management plan development, and asset investment planning among other projects.

  • Provide support to project execution, research, and subject matter expertise for adjacent Stantec business lines and teams where appropriate.

  • Contribute to the group’s reporting requirements, as needed.

  • Report regularly and engage proactively in adherence to Stantec’s Project Delivery protocols.

  • Remain abreast of the industry policy, regulatory, and technological developments across target markets, major trends, and competitor activity with a view to ensuring that the firm’s service offerings best align to current and future market needs.

  • Work with marketing support to support content marketing campaigns for the group’s business.

  • Serve as an ambassador for the group representing it at appropriate industry conferences, speaking engagements, and other external industry related events.

Qualifications

Your Capabilities & Credentials

  • Experience contributing to consulting services to withstand scrutiny from senior clients and stakeholders.

  • Experience with asset management, asset-risk and digital applications within the Canadian electrical utility market.

  • Understanding of electrical utility and energy-focused firms operational needs and requirements.

  • Familiar with the relationship between technical, digital and policy drivers on electrical utility and energy industry clients.

  • A highly intelligent, strategically minded self-starter with superb communication and interpersonal skills who prioritizes the development of trust and authenticity for themselves and among their team.

  • Highly creative and innovative thinker, with a displayed willingness to step outside of conventional approaches in pursuit of client value and service excellence.

  • Highly collaborative, able to use influence to build consensus within cross-functional teams.

  • Able to manage competing priorities in a high-paced global consultancy while maintaining overall value and quality.

  • Experience in working as part of a distributed team of technical and business professionals.

Education and Experience

  • Minimum 1 year of project management, and consulting or client-side electrical utility industry experience, ideally with a mix of electrical utility, developer, institutional and municipal clients.

  • Knowledge in Industrial, Commercial, or Municipal electrical utility energy markets

  • Relevant post-secondary degree, including but not limited to business, engineering, or policy.

  • Experience delivering digital, AI, and analytics projects to the Canadian electrical utility industry and related stakeholders considered an asset

  • Experience providing electrical and energy-related consulting support for major Canadian electrical utility, and institutional organizations.
