Actalent Power Electronics Mechanical Engineer in Franksville, Wisconsin

Description:

Job Responsibilities:

• Work with others to bring our rapid prototype designs to market (creating new 3D Model packaging/layout using SOLIDWORKS).

• Ensure the designs are accurate and consistent with standard manufacturing/assembly processes.

• Ensure dimensioning on drawings are accurate.

• Maintain revision control for individual components for each part to ensure configuration is controlled at each phase.

• Maintain an excellent understanding of how the BOM structure supports all activities of the organization.

• Design HW packaging for high power power electronics in enclosures considering EMC, EMI, thermal, and other requirements.

• Works with system engineering to capture system requirements for utilizing the packages in the system architecture.

• Works with service to create service plans and documentation for maintenance and repair of products.

• Utilizes DFM (Design For Manufacturing) and DFA (Design For Assembly) practices during the design process

• Works with 3rd party vendors and internal customers to meet design project targets (cost, time).

• Demonstrates an intense focus on customer satisfaction.

• Assist team members in achieving project level budgets on assigned projects.

• Foster open communication among all technical and business functions, including sales, operations, and quality organizations.

• Participate in an environment of continuous learning and driving standardization and high quality in design with a focus on manufacturability.

• Ensure compliance with all safety and work rules and regulations. Ensure the maintenance of departmental housekeeping standards.

Additional Skills & Qualifications:

Minimum Qualifications:

• Bachelor’s Degree in Electrical or Mechanical Engineering.

e• Strongin power electronics physical design.

• Solid understanding of basic physics and electronics.

• Strong understanding of high frequency power stages, filtering, circuit protection, thermal and EMI/EMC considerations.

• Product development process experience a must.

• Minimum 10 years of related experience with preference for panel shop and control systems design.

• Excellent communication skills (oral, written, and listening) and the ability to collaborate effectively both internally and externally with a diverse group of professionals.

• Organized with the ability to multi-task.

• Ability to work independently and consistently meet deadlines.

• Strong process orientation/discipline and demonstrated application of problem-solving tools (e.g. Paretto, 5-Why Analysis, 8-D’s, etc.)

• Understanding of advanced CAD tools.

Desired Skills and Experience:

• Experience with SOLIDWORKS & SOLIDWORKS Electrical.

• Experience with Mechanical Packaging & Design.

• Experience with Voltage Spacings in Design.

• Experience with source repositories (PDM).

• Experience with regulation testing and certification (UL/CE/CSA).

• Significant experience with high frequency. high power packaging with 20+ product launches on resume.

• Demonstrated development and/or applications expertise and experience with low-voltage (LV) Drives and Controls.

• Strong familiarity with power electronics equipment including switchgear, soft starters and VFDs.

• Experience operating in a power-electronics and industrial packaging manufacturing environment.

• Strong technical skills related to electrical engineering and power electronics.

• Demonstrated track record of creating/applying standard processes and problem-solving techniques/tools.
