Chenega Corporation Facilities Technician in Franklin, Tennessee

Chenega Enterprise Systems and Solutions, LLC (ChESS) , a Chenega Professional Services ’ company, is looking for a Facilities Technician to support a contract with the USDA, Engineering Office. This role will be assisting agency staff with project documentation and implementation both in the office and in the field. The anticipated workload will require working outdoors, in the field, in the local field office, as well as the State Office environments.

What you’ll be doing:

  • Inventorying and evaluating potential new project sites

  • Surveys for project construction layout and inspection

  • Evaluate construction materials to verify that they meet or exceed specifications

  • Develop & maintain construction project job diaries as required

  • Communicate with Engineers, CORs, CO, SCE, DCs, CETs, SCs, SCTs, Geologists regarding construction projects

  • Keep track of ongoing quantities for construction projects, and make Engineers, COR, CO, SCE, DCs, CETs, SCs, SCTs, Geologists, EWP Program Manager and others aware of potential quantity overruns

  • Verify that all construction projects assigned are following the required construction specifications and are following all required TDEC, COE, TVA, permit regulation requirements.

  • Develop and complete engineering drawings.

  • Support agency equipment, download survey data, and produce contour maps/drawings when needed.

  • Provide comments to Engineers/CORs/SCE on NRCS developed construction drawings and specifications when needed to verify technical adequacy and accuracy of the materials and documents in question.

  • Knowledgeable of, able to use, and able to troubleshoot setup problems for various forms of surveying equipment, self levelling levels, total station equipment, data collectors, GPS total stations, etc.

  • Communicate with contractors, landowners, agency personnel, material providers, regulatory personnel, local unit of government Sponsors, COs, CORs, Engineers, other Construction Inspectors, DCs, SCs, SCTs, CETs, various county and district employees, EWP Program Manager, SCE and others

  • Much of this work will be conducted outside in various weather conditions, and in various environments.The Contactor shall expect to be working in water, on construction sites with numerous pieces of heavy equipment, along state, county, and city roads where traffic will be ongoing, in agricultural areas where wildlife and livestock will be commonly present, around Confined Animal Feeding Operations (CAFOs) where livestock waste will be commonly present, and often being stored, and along very steep slopes.

  • Assists with generating reports for inventory, dam assessment, dam and project inspection, quality reviews, progress, and other reports required by any NRCS Program, initiative, database, or policy.

  • Any overnight stays and per diem will be reimbursed in accordance with the Federal Travel Regulations (FTR).


What is required:

  • Valid driver's license.

  • Ability to wear mask/faceshield at all times within Govt facilities/vehicles.

  • Working knowledge of AutoCAD, Civil 3d 2016

  • Previous experience working in the following fields: Construction, public works, municipalities

  • Previous experience surveying

  • Working knowledge of OSHA rules and regulations for construction projects
