UPMC Licensed Practical Nurse, OP - Franklin Surgical Assoc in Franklin, Pennsylvania

Responsibilities:

  • Draw blood samples while adhering to proper techniques and safety protocols to ensure patient comfort and accurate results.

  • Comply with all regulatory agency requirements, including OSHA, CLIA, and the Pennsylvania Department of Health, to maintain high standards of care.

  • Administer medications via various routes, including oral, subcutaneous (SQ), intramuscular (IM), and IV drip, following established protocols.

  • Assist physicians during examinations, diagnostic procedures, and treatments to ensure efficient patient care and accurate outcomes.

  • Assess patients' overall condition by taking vital signs and weight, documenting findings to support ongoing care.

  • Adhere strictly to all hospital policies and procedures to promote safety and quality in patient care.

  • Perform IV therapy under the supervision of a Registered Nurse, ensuring proper technique and patient monitoring throughout the process.

  • Document all activities, interventions, and patient/family responses in the medical record, while maintaining strict confidentiality regarding medical information and promoting patient education.

Required:

  • Graduate of an approved LPN school of nursing

Preferred:

  • One-year clinical experience

  • LPN experience

  • Med Surg/OR experience

Licensure, Certifications, and Clearances:

CPR required based on AHA standards that include both a didactic and skills demonstration component within 30 days of hire

  • Basic Life Support (BLS) OR Cardiopulmonary Resuscitation (CPR)

  • Licensed Practical Nurse (LPN)

  • Act 34

*Current licensure either in the state where the facility is located or, if the facility is in a state covered by the multistate Nursing Licensure Compact (NLC) agreement, a multistate license issued by a participating NLC state. Hires and current employees working on an out-of-state NLC license who later change their residency to the state where the facility is also located will have 60 days upon changing their residency to apply for licensure within that state.
